EIA Not Required for İTÜ-İstinye Funicular Line by İBB

Work continues for the "ITU-İstinye Funicular Line" project of the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Rail System Department Rail System Projects Directorate.

Ministry of Environment and Urbanization Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) is not required for the project, which is expected to cost 883.424.535 TL
made the decision.

In the statement made by the Ministry of Environment and Urbanization: “The pdf file submitted to our ministry regarding the ITU-İstinye Funicular Line project, which is planned to be built by the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality, Rail Systems Department, Rail System Projects Directorate in the district of Sarıyer in Istanbul, and Mirgün and İstinye neighborhoods in the district, has been examined and evaluated. Pursuant to the 17th article of the CED regulation, the TÜ-İstinye Funicular Line project has been decided by our governor's office that 'environmental impact assessment is not required'.

The project, whose EIA report was prepared by Adadem Environment Engineering, will be implemented in Sarıyer, Istanbul, and the line with 3 stations will be 2,65 km long. The line will start from the ITU-Ayazağa Station of the Yenikapı-Seyrantepe Hacıosman Metro Line, which is currently in operation, and pass underground in the direction of Katar Street and end with the İstinye station next to the İstinye Car Ferry Port. The first station, ITU Station, will be constructed by cut-and-cover excavation. The other two stations will be tunnel type.
