Stating that they decided to work together for the 30 million dollar loan targeted to be obtained from the World Bank for the transformation of moderately damaged buildings damaged in the October 340 earthquake, Soyer said, “We will take steps to accelerate this process together. We will do an exemplary work that will inspire Turkey together," he said. “Ministry approval and guarantee required”

Izmir Metropolitan Municipality Mayor made an evaluation after the meeting. Tunç Soyer, “First of all, I would like to thank Kerem Ali Continuous and Özgür Hızal for their hosting. On our agenda, there was work on the urban transformation loan of 340 million dollars, which was expected to come from the World Bank. We reviewed this again. There was a negotiation process with the World Bank that lasted for three to four months. Our meetings with the Ministry of Treasury and Iller Bank continued. There has been an agreement, but there is no signed contract yet. We have reached an agreement with the World Bank Turkey representative, but it needs to be approved and guaranteed by the Ministry of the Treasury. This process continues,” he said.

Soyer stated that they decided to follow this process by showing a common will in İzmir and said, “We will take the steps to accelerate this process together. We sincerely hope that the bureaucrats of both Iller Bank and the Ministry of Treasury work together with the metropolitan bureaucrats and end this process. We will work together to eliminate the grievances of our citizens and we will present this to our President. I think we will get a positive result. But today's meeting has a more valuable result, which is our decision to work together with a common will in Izmir for urban transformation. Maybe we will carry out an exemplary work that has not been achieved in Turkey until now, but thanks to its success, it will inspire Turkey. The amount of housing to be built with a loan from the World Bank will not eliminate all the grievances experienced by our citizens in İzmir. It will provide a solution for moderately damaged buildings, but 50-60 thousand residences will make similar demands. In order to meet these demands as soon as possible, we have revealed the will to work together.”

“İzmir can set an example for Turkey with the will to work together”

AK Party İzmir Provincial President Kerem Ali Continuous Tunç SoyerHe thanked . As stated by the President, negotiations regarding the World Bank loan are continuing, we are following and supporting them. This loan provides solutions for moderately damaged structures and some public investments in İzmir. However, there is also the issue of the transformation of less damaged structures. We also discussed these. With this will to work together, İzmir can set an example for Turkey.”

CHP İzmir Provincial Chairman Deniz Yücel emphasized that they will continue to keep communication and dialogue channels open for city and country problems.
