The noise action plan prepared by Bursa Metropolitan Municipality to reduce noise from road, railway and industrial areas in sensitive areas such as hospital-school-housing has been approved by the Ministry of Environment and Urbanization.
Turkey enacted in general 'Noise Assessment and Management Regulations' scope of Istanbul, Ankara, Izmir, Bursa and Kocaeli in such big cities 'strategic noise maps' was created. The Bursa Metropolitan Municipality has prepared a noise action plan for the purpose of evaluating highway, railway and industrial resources. The plan developed under the coordination of the Department of Environmental Protection and Control was approved by the Ministry of Environment and Urbanization after passing the Metropolitan Municipality Council. Thus, there were no obstacles to the implementation of standards on noise.
Mayor Alinur Aktas, said in a statement, approved Bursa with a noise action plan will be more liveable, he said. In his statement, Chairman Aktaş mentioned that the priority of everyone should be environmental sensitivity and stated that they attach special importance to this subject for a life of higher standards. Aktaş said that they wanted to carry the standards of Bursa upwards with the projects planned and put into service in the context of sustainable environmental policy and therefore they were also struggling with the noise pollution besides the 'environment, air and image pollution'.
