Old Train Line Will Be Buca's New Tourism Route

The old railway line, one of the nostalgic values ​​of Buca, is being brought to tourism. Buca Mayor Erhan Kılıç said, "While we are reviving the historical texture of the city, we will also give Buca a new space where our citizens can breathe."

The Municipality of Buca took action for the railway line, which was built by the Levantines in 1872 to transport Buca's famous grape to Europe and has been idle since 2006. The municipality, which leased the line owned by TCDD, prepared a project for an area of ​​approximately 40 thousand square meters.

NEW TOURISM ROUTE

Buca Mayor Erhan Kılıç, who made inspections along the line, said that they aim to bring a new tourism route to the city with the arrangements to be made. Kılıç said, “The old railway line is among our nostalgic values. We rented this line by our municipality. We have prepared a project along the line where citizens can enjoy and experience the beauties of Buca. When the project comes to life, we will revive the historical texture of the city and at the same time give Buca a new space for our citizens to breathe.”

WHAT'S IN THE PROJECT?

In the project prepared for the old railway line, there are uninterrupted bicycle paths, disabled friendly designs of promenades, children's playgrounds, cafes, buffets and wooden terraces. It is also planned to establish a Producer Women's Market within the line. The section where Buca Station is located in front of Dokuz Eylül University Faculty of Education is aimed to be transformed into Art Street.
