Başakşehir Theater Academy gave the premiere of the play “Kumpanyada Curcuna” written and directed by master theater actor Cengiz Küçükayvaz. Başakşehir Municipality brought the play “Kumpanyada Curcuna” written and directed by master theater actor Cengiz Küçükayvaz to theater lovers.

Master theater actor Cengiz Küçükayvaz made statements to the microphone of Hibya News Agency at the premiere of the play.

Küçükayvaz said that although it is a completely traditional structure in its origin, the game is not handled with a pure traditional structure, “We take our audience back 100 years. Although it is a completely traditional structure in its origin, the game was not treated as a pure traditional structure. Updates have been made. Especially the game has a place, this is the social challenge section. Both the social media mockery and 'how would it be approached if there was a social media frenzy at that time?' There is a beautiful parody of said.

Master theater actor Cengiz Küçükayvaz pointed out that there are music and dance choreographies written for "Kumpanyada Curcuna".

Küçükayvaz said, “We can say that our story is a one-day adventure between old poles. All the motifs of the traditional, both the typology, the misunderstandings in the game, the constant entrance and exit of the characters, I tried to bring that static structure to a fast and rhythmic dimension as if it were in a Persian game. And when it was decorated with these characters, something beautiful came out.” he said.

“It is better to say musical”

Pointing out that it was originally a theater play, but it would be more accurate to say musical, Küçükayvaz said:

“Actually, it is a theater play in its origin, but it would be more correct to call it a musical. There are already a few fixed plays in the Turkish theater. But most directors and most theater companies don't show much, including in corporate theatres. Because they think that the generation structure, which can be addressed very differently, is very different, but such plays have a structure that forms the origins of real Turkish theater. It also has a transition that is more suitable for the tuluat theatre. There is also a transition of the traditional Ottoman theater. This is actually a mixture of some original motifs that we took over from foreigners and later called a palace theater and then a public theater.”

Master theater actor Cengiz Küçükayvaz reminded that he is a traditionalist, emphasizing that this complicated structure is difficult for people, but he likes it very much.

Küçükayvaz remembered Erol Günaydın, of whom he was a student, with these words: “May Allah have mercy on him, may his place be heaven. I was a student of dear Erol Günaydın. And I've been saying it ever since. In case there is anything else you can show me, I would like to repay this debt to you in this way. I said back then that I wanted to write a play about it and put it in front of the audience. And I'm really happy that we finally brought it to life in this way.”

Stating that the play emerged as a result of an intricate work, not a personal effort, master actor Cengiz Küçükayvaz said, “Of course, this came about not only as a result of a personal effort, but as a result of an intricate work. At the beginning of this intricate work, of course, Başakşehir Municipality and Başakşehir Mayor Yasin Kartoğlu are present. Başakşehir Theater Academy has a history of approximately 13 years. It has a fundamental structure. Students are trained with a highly modern approach to theater science. Both İlknur Demir and Caner Demir have been showing this effort for years.” made statements.

Küçükayvaz concluded his words as follows: “To join this family in this way, to appear in front of the Istanbul audience with such a beautiful play, and to appear before the audience in Anatolia with such a play, with the tours we will make in Anatolia, both show how strong the traditional Turkish theater is. It is also of great importance in terms of showing both how it can be modernized and how people can come back to their homes with laughter and fun by coming to such a game.
