Turkish-French Decarbonization and Green Energy Forum: Field Stakeholders Gathered for Green Transformation in Istanbul

The Turkish-French Decarbonization and Green Energy Forum held in Istanbul aimed to deepen the economic relations between Türkiye and France with sustainability-oriented steps. The forum brought together sector leaders, policy makers and civil society representatives and discussed green transformation and international cooperation.

At the event hosted by the Turkish-French Trade Association, sustainability, energy efficiency and carbon reduction issues came to the fore under the sponsorship of Saint-Gobain. The event was attended by Association President Franck Mereyde, French Ambassador in Türkiye Isabelle Dumont and Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources Dr. Zafer Demircan participated.

Aydoğan: Decarbonization is not only an environmental goal; is the basic condition of economic competitiveness and social responsibilitySpeaking as follows, Saint-Gobain Türkiye CEO Aykut Aydoğan emphasized the steps taken in the field of light and sustainable construction, in which they are the world leader. Explaining how energy efficient solutions and recyclable materials will be disseminated in the public and private sectors with the goal of net zero, Aydoğan said: circular solutions with innovative technologieshighlighted its importance and highlighted Saint-Gobain’s role at the heart of this transformation.

In the discussions held over two main panels, “The Future of Energy: Decarbonization, Efficiency and Sustainability”Under the title, energy management and the impact of digitalization in the fields of industry and technology were discussed. Moreover “Green Financing: Accelerating Decarbonization and the Clean Energy Transition”In the panel titled, banking and development finance representatives examined the financial dynamics and investment potential of international partnerships. The event aimed to create new opportunities for more joint projects and technology sharing between Türkiye and France.

Following the program, the Association organized a special gala to celebrate its 140th anniversary in Türkiye. Institutions that strengthen the economic cooperation between the two countries were honored at award ceremonies within the scope of the gala. Saint-Gobain, with its pioneering work in the field of innovation and sustainability “The Most Innovative Company”was deemed worthy of the award and this award was presented to Aydoğan by the President of the Association, Franck Mereyde, and the Ambassador of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Directorate for EU Affairs, Mehmet Kemal Bozay.
