Railway Bridge Collapsed in Sydney: 1 Person Died

In Australia’s New South Wales (NSW) state, there was a sad accident in the town of Lithgow, 110 kilometres northwest of Sydney. The bridge collapsed after a lorry hit a railway bridge and one person was killed in the accident.

Bridge collapsed, passenger trapped

NSW police report that a lorry has crashed into a railway bridge in the town of Lithgow. The aftermath of the accident: the 38-year-old lorry driver managed to extricate himself from the vehicle at the scene. A 34-year-old male passenger in the lorry was trapped.

Rescue teams dispatched to the scene unfortunately found the trapped passenger dead.

According to the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC), the bridge where the accident occurred belongs to a disused railway line. The police launched an investigation into the incident to determine the exact cause of the accident.
