Konya Metropolitan Municipality is making concrete barriers with a slip form system in the construction of the Courthouse-City Hospital-Stadium Tram Line.
Konya Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Uğur İbrahim Altay reminded that they worked meticulously to implement the most important transportation projects in Konya’s history during this period.
In this context, Mayor Altay noted that they have reached an important stage in the first stage construction of the Courthouse-City Hospital-Stadium Tram Line, which they continue to build as a municipality, and said that they built a fast and safe concrete barrier without blocking traffic, with a system implemented for the first time within the scope of the works.
Providing information about the concrete barrier made with the slip form system, Mayor Altay said, “Due to the heavy vehicle traffic along the tram route, we make a concrete barrier on the steel slip formwork using an on-site finisher. In this way, we ensure maximum traffic flow by separating the concrete barrier production from the traffic.”
Mayor Altay stated that the barrier has a long-lasting and solid structure and said, “We will build a total of 18 kilometers of barrier. We have done 8 kilometers so far. We plan to finish the remaining 10 kilometers in 2 months, as long as the weather permits. We pour zero slam concrete produced with a special recipe. We also add special micro fiber fiber into it. The barrier made has an average life of 50 years. Since it will not get water in the winter, we make a much more resistant production against frost. When we complete the rail systems, our Konya will be “It will be introduced to a very high level of public transportation,” he said.
