It Will Be Turkey's Most Iconic Library

Work on the construction of the City Library, which will be brought to the city by Konya Metropolitan Municipality, continues without slowing down.

Konya Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Uğur İbrahim Altay, who inspected the construction of the City Library, reminded that the library is one of 20 different projects within the scope of the Dârülmülk Project. Mayor Altay said, “Unfortunately, we demolished our building in the area known as the Metropolitan Municipality building in the memory of the people of Konya because it was not earthquake prone. "As Konya Metropolitan Municipality, we decided to gift a land worth billions of lira to our young people by building a library when we evaluate it commercially," he said.

“WE SHAPED A LIBRARY BUILDING ACCORDING TO THE FORM OF EXISTING TREES”

Mayor Altay stated that they were happy to bring one of Turkey's most beautiful library buildings to the city and said:

“We are building one of the most iconic library buildings in Turkey. A structure will be created that includes study areas, study centers, a digital library and a large library structure. One of the important issues about this building is that we shaped a library building according to the form of the existing trees, without touching the existing trees. In addition, we will have built the first example of Zero Carbon buildings in Konya, one of the 4 pilot cities in the world, which we carry out together with the United Nations. We are trying hard. "Hopefully, when it is completed, we will have built a cultural center where our young people can spend time, study and be together with books."

Mayor Altay noted that they will also create a municipal service area within the City Library, from the KOSKİ cash desk to Açık Kapı, where citizens can see the municipal services when they come, since there is a municipality habit in the current area, and said, “Thus, we wish to maintain the perception that this place used to be the Metropolitan Municipality.” . I hope it will be beneficial to our city. I would like to thank everyone who contributed. Hopefully, it will be completed as soon as possible and we hope to introduce it to both our youth and the culture of our city. "Good luck and good luck," he said.
