Speaking at the Earthquake Panel organized by Bahçelievler Municipality, Prof. Dr. Şükrü Ersoy said that he had warned his hometown of Hatay for 20 years, but the necessary precautions were not taken and there was destruction in the end. After the great earthquake that caused destruction in 11 provinces centered in Kahramanmaraş, awareness studies and measures continue to be taken all over the country regarding the earthquake. Prof. who is from Hatay and lost his relatives in the earthquake. Dr. Ersoy stated that he had warned Hatay many times about the earthquake for years and continued as follows:
“I have been going to Hatay and Iskenderun for seminars every year for 20 years. For years, I say do not build houses on the plains, go higher. They love me, but they don't do what I say. Last 1 month ago 'Is Hatay ready for an earthquake?' I gave a seminar on Every time after the seminar, they take my arm, 'Sir, why are you scaring us so much?' they say. Unfortunately, every place I mentioned was destroyed in the last earthquake. Even before I went to the earthquake zone, I knew what kind of picture I would see.”

Ersoy also gave information about the possible earthquake and tsunami danger in Istanbul, “There were 27 major earthquakes in 6 years and the end of the earthquake came to Istanbul.” said.
