Keçiören is one of the metropolitan districts of Ankara. In terms of population, it is Ankara's second and Turkey's fourth largest district.

While it was previously a neighborhood of Altındağ district, the population of Keçiören, which became a district with the Law on the Establishment of Six Districts and the Abolition of the Central District of Ankara Province, adopted on November 29, 1983, has approached 1 million. The district, which is divided into two parts by Çubuk Stream, has 51 neighborhoods.

Who is Mehmet Akcay?

He was born in 1976 in the Darende district of Malatya. He graduated from Ankara University, Faculty of Political Sciences, "Political Science and Public Administration" in 1998. He completed his master's degree in "Political Science and Public Administration" at Ankara University Social Sciences Institute. Between 2015-2018, he was sent to England by the Ministry of Interior to do his doctorate work. He completed his PhD in “Political Science and International Relations” at the University of Southampton in England and received a PhD (PhD) degree.

Originally, he worked as a department head in Çorum – Ortaköy, Kars – Digor District Governorate, Adıyaman Deputy Governor, Aydın–Buharkent, Isparta-Şarkikaraağaç, Çanakkale-Eceabat, Burdur-Bucak District Governorate, Ministry of Interior Strategy Development Presidency.

He was appointed as the Keçiören District Governor with the Presidential Decision dated 19 August 2021 and numbered 2021/412.

Dr. Mehmet AKÇAY is married and has two children.
