Şanlıurfa Training and Research Hospital Dietitian Mehmet Kaplan said that it is possible to lose weight while fasting.

Dietitian Mehmet Kaplan made the following statements in his evaluation: We should not fall below 2-2,5 liters of water consumption during Ramadan. You should definitely not skip the sahur meal. When we sleep without having the sahur meal, our blood sugar starts to drop earlier, as our hunger time reaches 20 hours. That's why we need to spend the month of Ramadan by making at least two meals without skipping the sahur meal. Generally, breakfast can be preferred in sahur. We should stay away from high-sugar, high-fat foods. In general, protein-based eggs and cheese can be consumed. These cause us to feel the hunger period later in our body. Likewise, vegetables prevent us from getting hungry as they take up more space in the stomach.”

Noting that there is a break after the soup in İtar, Dietician Mehmet Kaplan drew attention to the importance of physical activity.

Kaplan said, “There is usually a desire to eat very quickly and excessively during iftar. In order to prevent this, we can first open our iftar with iftar meals, open our iftar with a light soup and a date for iftar, take a break for 10-15 minutes and then consume the remaining meals in a balanced way. In general, vegetables and fruits are the groups that we neglect in iftar and sahur. We must be careful not to consume them. High-fat, high-sugar foods are inconvenient in both iftar and sahur, and we should stay away from them. Physical activity is also very important. We can also do our physical activity between iftar and sahur. You can walk for half an hour and 45 minutes. Or we can do sports activities in the early hours of the morning, when our metabolism and blood sugar have not dropped much yet.”

Dietitian Mehmet Kaplan concluded his words as follows: “Overweight individuals generally have a tendency to consume very little food during iftar and sahur and believe that they will lose weight in this way. This may be true, weight is lost, but we usually lose muscle mass along with fat, and weight loss happens very quickly.

Buddha causes many diseases. Instead, we recommend that you apply to a nutritionist and make a nutrition plan in such a way that you can lose a maximum of 4-5 kilos per month, as is done in normal times.
