On the third day of the flood disaster in Kumluca, Finike and Demre, Antalya Metropolitan Municipality works day and night with 550 personnel to heal the wounds and erase the traces of the disaster. Metropolitan teams, while cleaning the streets from mud, discharge water from basements and greenhouses. Helping citizens to clean their homes and shops, damage assessment is done. The Mobile Soup Kitchen also offers three hot meals to the citizens.

Antalya Metropolitan Municipality continues its efforts to heal the wounds of the flood disaster in Kumluca, Finike and Demre. In the coordination center established by the Metropolitan Municipality at the Kumluca Mehmet Akif Ersoy Cultural Center, the demands, requests and suggestions of the citizens who were damaged by the flood are fulfilled immediately. Teams from all relevant units such as ASAT, Fire Brigade, Rural Services, Science Affairs, Social Services, Agricultural Services, Park and Gardens are working day and night to heal the wounds of citizens in mobilization.

Three Meals

Durmuş Ali Arslan, Deputy Secretary General of the Metropolitan Municipality, stated that they coordinated all the works from the Disaster Coordination Management Center established in Kumluca.

and gave the following information: “We continue our work in the field with 550 personnel and 155 vehicles. We distribute three meals a day to our citizens. Our Department of Agricultural Services continues to work on damage assessment in greenhouses, and our social service specialists in houses. Our ASAT and Fire Brigade teams discharge water in both greenhouses and properties. We have 8 teams cleaning the streets. In addition, our other teams help our citizens to clean their homes and shops. Our 5 mobile teams also meet the demands in rural neighborhoods.”

Water Drains Continue

Noting that they have completed the water drainage of the parking lot, which is filled with water under Kumluca Municipality and where there are nearly 200 vehicles, Durmuş Ali Arslan said, “It was like a small underground pond with 7 thousand 500 cubic meters of water. We did the water evacuation in a short time of about 30 hours. Now, our motor pumps are draining the waters under the sites of our citizens' private properties. Our vacuum trucks work meticulously to ensure that the damaged septic tanks do not harm the environment. Our teams work on a 24-hour basis,” he said.

Asat on Alarm

ASAT General Manager İbrahim Kurt stated that they are in Kumluca with all the deputy general managers and department heads, and stated that the water lines are controlled for the clean water needs of the citizens, and tests are carried out by constantly taking samples from water tanks and fountains. Kurt said, “In case of malfunction, we make immediate intervention. We take precautions to prevent mud and dirt from mixing with the water. We ensure that the streets are washed with our water trucks. We provide water supply to the fire brigades and the sprinklers from other provinces. We will continue to work with all our friends in the field until we get its old look in Kumluca.”

Rural Services Open Roads

The teams of the Metropolitan Municipality Rural Services Department also carry out maintenance and repair works on the roads deteriorated due to the flood. While clogged and broken culverts are being replaced, cleaning works continue on muddy roads and stockades.
