A First in Army History! Cruise Tourism Begins

Ordu, which has made a rapid progress in the last two years in order to become the most important trade and tourism center of the Black Sea, raises the bar in sea tourism and transportation. Ordu, which started international maritime transport with the start of Ro-Ro voyages with Russia through Ünye Port in September, will this time host cruise tourism, one of the most important areas of world marine tourism.

Ordu Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Dr. Ünye Port, whose number of berths has been increased with the efforts of Mehmet Hilmi Güler, has been enlarged by increasing its depth and making it suitable for the entrance of high-tonnage ships, is preparing to host around 40 cruise ships per year. The first cruise ship will dock at the port at 19:09.00 on Monday, December XNUMXth.

Having made a series of meetings with the holding executives of the Astoria Grande cruise ship, which started from the Russian city of Sochi and traveled on the route covering Trabzon, Sinop, Istanbul and Bozcaada, Ordu Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Dr. Mehmet Hilmi Güler made it possible to add Ordu to the tour route. The next route of the Astoria Grande cruise ship with a capacity of 1350 people will be Trabzon, Ordu, Sinop, Istanbul and Bozcaada.

“A FIRST AND A GREAT STEP FOR THE ARMY”

Ordu Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Dr. Mehmet Hilmi Güler stated that Ordu will take place in maritime transportation and maritime tourism from now on. Mayor Güler said, “As the Metropolitan Municipality, we consider Ordu as a whole. One of our most important advantages here is the Unye Port. The cruise ship that will come to Ünye Port will have arrived in the whole of Ordu. So we're going to do the surface, and this is a very important step. Because we bring things that were never thought of on the agenda. This is very important in terms of tourism, economy and culture," he said.

“WE WILL WELCOME OVER 1000 PASSENGERS”

Emphasizing that the next ship will come with more than 1000 passengers, President Güler said, “We will host more than 1000 passengers. We will bring some of them to Ünye and some to Altınordu via Fatsa and host them here. I hope these cruise voyages will continue from now on. To achieve this, we increased the depth of the Unye Port and developed the facility. We also built a passenger terminal. We built the passenger terminal, which will host over 1000 passengers, in 25 days. We will show the beauties of our army to our guests”

“AFTER ÜNYE PORT, WE WILL DO THE SAME WORKS IN ALTINORDU AND FATSA”

Stating that similar works will be carried out in Altınordu and Fatsa, President Güler stated that Ünye, which was an ordinary port, has now turned into a completely different center of attraction.

President Güler continued his words as follows:

“From now on, we are also developing the Ordu Port. We are developing the dock and we are working on it. We are working on Fatsa. We consider the economy as a whole. Ro-Ro expeditions made a lot of noise. Now, so to speak, we load goods by truck, not by box. This will make a huge contribution to our economy. We are transforming a place where only cement and minerals were loaded, which used to look like an ordinary port, into a completely different center of attraction. By supporting this with agriculture, tourism and culture, we are developing this place as a tourism and economy center.”
