EGO General Directorate renewed and opened the natural gas fueling facility for CNG buses located in the 5th Regional Bus Operation Branch Directorate in Sincan. The station, which is the largest in Europe, saves 9 million 600 thousand TL in electricity per year.

EGO General Directorate, which has made many innovations in the field of transportation in the capital, both prevents environmental pollution and saves money by establishing modern facilities.

EGO General Directorate renewed and opened the natural gas fueling facility located in the Sincan 5th Regional Bus Operation Branch Directorate for environmentally friendly CNG buses.

THE LARGEST IN EUROPE

The new station, which was built because the old CNG filling station broke down frequently and completed its economic life, is the largest natural gas fueling facility in Europe. At the filling station, which consists of a total of 8 CNG compressors and 5 CNG buses can be refueled at the same time, 12 cubic meters of natural gas per hour can be filled into the buses.

9 MILLION 600 Thousand TL ELECTRICITY SAVINGS ANNUALLY

İsmail Nalbant, Head of Vehicle Maintenance and Repair Department of EGO General Directorate, stated that the fuel filling station was environmentally friendly and said, “Because our old station was built in 2006 and 2011, it was no longer able to meet the needs since it had completed its economic life. Due to the addition of our new buses to the bus fleet, its capacity was no longer sufficient.” Nalbant continued his statements as follows:

“There is no other facility in this scope that has the capacity to pump 12 cubic meters of natural gas per hour at one point in Turkey or Europe. At the same time, we built a station for our diesel buses that contains diesel fuel in underground tanks of 500 cubic meters. With that facility, a total of 60 buses, including 8 CNG buses and 2 diesel buses, can be filled at the same time. The biggest feature of our facility was that the pipeline that supplied natural gas to the old station had a capacity of 10 bars, so the filling time of the buses was prolonged and therefore electricity consumption was high. While designing our new facility, high pressure compressors were purchased by drawing a natural gas line in the range of 4-12 bar. For this reason, a savings of up to 19 percent is foreseen on our electricity bills. This means that we will save 30 thousand TL per month and 800 million 9 thousand TL annually.”
