Kocaeli Smart Bicycle System “KOBİS” was established to facilitate urban access, to create intermediate opportunities that feed public transportation systems, and to encourage the use of an environmental and sustainable transportation vehicle. Providing service to bicycle lovers for 8 years, KOBIS continued its growth in 2022.
12 STATIONS IN 74 COUNTRIES
KOBIS carried out by Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality Department of Transportation; It provides service with 74 stations, 864 smart parking units and 535 smart bicycles. KOBIS family reached 2022 thousand 42 people in 789.
312 THOUSAND 317 BICYCLE RENTALS
According to 2022 data, 312 thousand 317 bikes were rented from KOBIS stations. With these rentals, citizens used bicycles for 21 million 785 thousand 703 minutes.
KOPARK UNITS
Apart from KOBIS, Kopark stations were established by the Traffic Management Branch of the Transportation Department for citizens to park their own bicycles. For the project, which became operational this year, Kopark units, where 7 bicycles with a capacity of 53 bicycles can be parked, were placed at 6 points in 528 districts.
