In memory of the esteemed artist Neşet Ertaş, the program of the 22th International Red Crescent Friendship Short Film Festival, which will be held on December 25-5, was presented by the President of the Red Crescent Dr. It was announced at the press conference attended by Kerem Kınık.

The 5th International Red Crescent Friendship Festival was promoted at Sepetçi Pavilion.

The Red Crescent International Friendship Short Film Festival will be held this year on December 22-25, in memory of the esteemed artist Neşet Ertaş. In the festival, where 58 films from 522 countries applied, for the first time this year, a production competing in the festival's 'Humanistic Look' documentary selection will be given the 'Red Crescent Humanistic Look Award' by the Turkish Red Crescent. While 189 films applied for the competition category of the festival, 89 films applied for the Human Perspective Documentary Competition category, 266 for the Panorama category, and 13 for the Forty Years Remember category.

This year's jury chairman of the festival will be Ebru Ceylan, whose first short film 'On the Shore' was selected in the main competition at the Cannes Film Festival in 1998 and won many awards by participating in various national and international festivals with this film. This year's jury members of the festival are cinematographer Akzholtoy Bekbolotov, Okan University Fine Arts Faculty Cinema-TV Department Head, cinema critic Murat Tırpan, and 'Little Women', 'The Wren', 'Avenger of the Serpents', 'Resurrection; Hande Sorel, the successful actress of the TV series "Ertuğrul" and "Once Upon a Time in Çukurova".

Kerem Kınık: “We too are breathing with this festival”

Dr.Kerem Kınık, President of the Red Crescent, who is the Honorary President of the Festival; “As the Red Crescent, we have a reason for existence that focuses on the suffering, troubles and pain of people, we try to protect and strengthen their dignity, and we call others to solidarity and empathy to solve their problems. In fact, we are calling to humanity. We are all parts of humanity, we have to protect it. We strive to ensure that art accompanies people's search for meaning, to highlight the different features and worlds they live in, and to reach all world artists who do this on artistic platforms. We are also breathing with this festival. " said.

Faysal Soysal: Our goal is to build a bridge of friendship with filmmakers

Explaining the program of the festival, Festival Director Faysal Soysal; “One of our main goals is to be an ointment to the side of wars that increase grudge and hatred, especially in the period we live in, and to bring the concept of friendship to the agenda. Especially when the concept of friendship is reflected in works of art, it is especially powerful when it is reflected in a short film that has a completely independent and free understanding. As a matter of fact, friendship has such a sincere side. Another goal of ours is to develop the concept of friendship, to reconstruct it with the language of short films, and to establish a bridge of friendship with filmmakers all over the world. " said.

Generic; “We have one of the most beautiful selections of short films in Turkey. This year, our selection will be divided into 4 sections, and 4 awards will be given in the main competition. This year, on the 10th anniversary of his death, we will give a Friendship Award to a film in our Forty Years of Memory section, which bears the mark of Turkish friendship, in memory of Neşet Ertaş.” he said.

Festival General Art Director Mehmet Lütfi Şen; “On the occasion of this festival, we want to mess with the course of humanity. We think that our festival will be even stronger in terms of bringing Anatolian yeast to the whole world with the integration of the corporate identity of Kızılay with the festival.”

Director Atalay Taşdiken, one of the consultants of the festival, said, “It is a truly rare festival that progresses every year. We are watching with pride. Short films are very important for cinema, it is very important for short filmmakers to feel themselves as a filmmaker.”

Supporting the festival, Deputy Mayor of Beyoğlu Municipality Mehmet Erdoğan; “We are happy and proud to host such events. Yes, the festivals are held with very difficult opportunities, we are trying to support, and we will always continue to be," he said.

Festival screenings and events are free

The main sponsor of the festival, which is organized under the umbrella of the Turkish Red Crescent with the support of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism and the General Directorate of Cinema, is Halk Bank this year as well as last year. Anadolu Agency undertakes the global communication partnership of the festival, to which Beyoğlu Municipality and Zeytinburnu Municipality also provide great support, while many cinema and media organizations such as Fono Film, Türk Medya, Sinefesto, TSA, Interpress, Artizan Sanat and Filmarası are among the supporters of the festival. Balcony Production is the organization of the festival. Film screenings of the festival are at Atlas Cinema and Zeytinburnu Culture and Art Center on the European side, and at the Anatolian side. Kadıköy It will take place in the cinema. There will also be a talk and a master class event at Atlas Cinema. During the festival, talks will be held at Beyoğlu Academy, and documentary screenings and talk events will be held at Artizan Sanat. Anyone who wishes to participate in all screenings and events at the festival is free of charge.
