The "International Mediterranean Cinemas Meeting" is organized for the second time by the Izmir Metropolitan Municipality. During the meeting, which will be attended by directors, producers and representatives of cinema institutions from Mediterranean countries on 7-12 November, film screenings will be held at three venues.

Izmir Metropolitan Municipality is organizing the "Izmir International Mediterranean Cinemas Meeting" for the second time. The meeting to be held on 7-12 November will be simultaneous with the “Euro-Mediterranean Regional and Local Assembly” meeting this year.

2021 feature films produced in 2022-34 from Mediterranean countries' cinemas will be screened with Turkish subtitles. On the first day of the Izmir International Mediterranean Cinemas Meeting, directed by Vecdi Sayar, the "Good Boss", starring Javier Bardem and nominated for the "Best European Comedy" at the European Film Awards this year, will meet with the people of Izmir. In the "Memories" section of the festival, "Night" and "Conscience" films by master director Erden Kıral, who passed away this year, will be featured.

The “One Country-One City” section of the festival includes classics shot in Paris by Marcel Carné, Jacques Rivette and Louis Malle, as well as “France”, “Paris Memories” and “Nocturama: Paris is Burning”, which are important works of contemporary French cinema. Other parts of the program are titled “Confrontations”, “The Magic of the Mediterranean” and “From Our Cinema”. The films will be screened in Izmir Art, French Culture Center and Izmir Architecture Center halls. All the events of the festival can be watched free of charge.

2023 Oscar nominees in Izmir

In the program, Italy's nostalgia "Nostalgia" in the Best International Film Category at the 2023 Oscars, Greece's "Magnetic Fields", Lebanon's nominee "Memory Box", Palestine's nominee "Mediterranean Fire", Tunisia's nominee nominee "Under the Fig Trees" and Swedish nominee "Child From Heaven" by Egyptian director Tarik Saleh.

Within the scope of the festival, a two-day roundtable meeting will be held, bringing together the guest directors and producers with the directors and producers of our country. At the meeting, cooperation opportunities in the fields of co-production and distribution among Mediterranean cinemas will be evaluated and concrete projects will be discussed.

Henri Langlois Award

An honorary award is presented in the name of Henri Langlois, the founder of the French Cinematheque, born in Izmir, at the Izmir Mediterranean Cinemas Meeting. This year Tunisian writer-director Ferid Boughedir will receive the MEDCINE IZMIR Henri Langlois Award. The director's films "Child of the Roofs" and "Zizou and the Arab Spring" will be screened at the festival.
