Çalık: 'Beylikdüzü mind' is our compass in every field

In his speech at the ceremony, Beylikdüzü Mayor Mehmet Murat Çalık said, “We are honored to be holding such beautiful events at a time when polarization and separation are fueled. What we need most is partnership. We strive to create all our projects in Beylikdüzü within the framework of an inclusive understanding. We bring rational solutions to problems and build our future with these rational solutions. We call this understanding 'Beylikdüzü mind'. This mind is our compass in every field. We have taken many big steps in the construction of common life in Beylikdüzü, from parks to sports facilities, from Yaşam Vadisi to Yaşam Bahçesi. Likewise, we traditionalize our activities in many fields from sports to music, from science to literature. Beylikdüzü Sculpture Symposium, which we organized for the 7th time this year, is one of them. In the sculpture symposiums we have been holding since 2014, 19 artists from 49 countries presented 49 works to the parks, boulevards and cultural centers of our district. In this year's symposium, again, our very valuable artists will build their works that add value to our city here and will entrust them to Beylikdüzü. We believe that art has a healing aspect to our soul. Where people exist, art will always exist. We will continue to govern our city with a management approach that prioritizes art and artists, inspired by the words of Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, “A nation without art means that one of its life veins has been severed”. used the phrases.

“We don't just build buildings, we focus on the inside of the building”

In his speech, President Çalık also mentioned the importance of Sunday Istanbul, where the symposium was held, and said, “We have brought dozens of new buildings, facilities and centers to our district so far. But as I always say, we don't just build buildings, we focus on the inside of the building. We have a management mentality that desires buildings to be overflowing with people. This structure, which we are in and where we are holding this year's symposium, is one of the best examples of this. This is both a marketplace and a sports facility; temporary shelter and logistics center during disaster periods. But above all, it's a meeting place. Our neighbors meet here at the Good Iftar Table in Ramadan; doing sports here; he watches concerts and comes here for market shopping. We built a multifunctional and flexible building.”

We thank everyone very much,” he said. Sculptor Ufuk Güneş Taşkın said, “Organizing such a valuable organization is a unifying factor and power for both art and society. This place is very beautiful and there is art everywhere.” President Mehmet Murat Çalık, who opened the symposium by throwing the first source, spoke with the sculptors one by one. sohbet offered his thanks.
