Adil Karaismailoğlu, Minister of Transport and Infrastructure, stated that they created the general concept of the dissemination of public transportation and bicycle use in cities and pedestrianization projects, and said that they encouraged the development of domestic and national technologies for the creation of a sustainable environment and the transition to clean energy in the field of transportation. Karaismailoğlu also made a call to the young people and said, “Be careful about yourself, pedestrians and vehicles while using micro-mobility vehicles. Avoid behaviors that endanger neither yourself nor the other party.

Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Adil Karaismailoğlu met with university students at the Sirkeci Station at the Mobility Marathon organized as part of the European Mobility Week. Making a statement, Karaismailoğlu said, “Today, especially in urban transportation; Approaches that give importance to micro-mobility and prioritize clean energy and smart transportation solutions for urban mobility are not an innovation for the cities of the future, they are a necessity. Today, at the beginning of the main problems that concern the whole world; environmental problems such as climate change, water and air pollution beyond the borders of countries are coming. At this point, many countries, especially the European Union countries, aim to zero the carbon emissions caused by traffic between 2030 and 2050. Currently, many municipalities in Europe are making an intense effort to implement time-saving, environmentally friendly, practical practices in order to reduce traffic congestion and pollution and improve the quality of life. The fulfillment of a significant part of daily needs within a 15-minute time frame; It is aimed to plan transportation for this process to be covered by walking, environmentally friendly and micro-mobility vehicles such as bicycles or electric scooters, or by public transportation. In this context, we build all our projects and investments with environmental sensitivity in the focus of mobility, logistics and digitalization.”

FROM KARAİSMAİLOĞLU TO YOUTH; CAUTION WHEN USING MICRO MOBILITY TOOLS WARNING

Emphasizing that the holistic development-oriented vision that will connect Turkey to the world has many common denominators with the basic approaches of the European Union such as the European Green Agreement, the Paris Climate Agreement and the European Climate Law, Karaismailoğlu said that all kinds of measures have been taken for environmental cleaning in the project work areas, He said that the damage has been minimized and they have meticulously implemented all kinds of work to compensate for possible losses more and more carefully. In this way, Karaismailoğlu stated that they helped nature to renew and protect itself and continued his speech as follows:

“In addition to the dissemination of rail systems, we also aim to reduce carbon emissions with new generation methods within the framework of carbon emission reduction policies. As the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure, we strongly demonstrate a similar sensitivity in urban transportation, just as we try to use electric trains for our intercity mobility and logistics activities, as well as to manufacture and disseminate the National Electric Train Set. The Gaziray project, which we will be opening in Gaziantep in the coming days, is one of the most up-to-date examples of this approach. Again, within this scope, we are evaluating our rail system works, which we are currently running on 7 different lines in total, with a total length of 103.3 kilometers, and which we will offer our 3 lines to the service of Istanbulites this year. New generation fuel policies, electric vehicles, increasing the use of walking and cycling in the city are also among our plans. In this regard, we are creating an effective, efficient and solution-oriented micro-mobility system. Again, as you know, we made an important breakthrough as a ministry on micromobility vehicles and started to deliver PTT deliveries with E-scooter vehicles where appropriate. We see that this initiative is an initiative that will positively affect the speed of distribution, especially in a metropolis like Istanbul. However, I would like to make a call to you, our dear young people, on one issue; Be wary of yourself, pedestrians and vehicles when using micro-mobility vehicles. Avoid behaviors that endanger neither yourself nor the other party.”

WE ATTENTION TO EXTENDING THE USE OF BICYCLE AND PEDESTRIANIZATION PROJECTS

Emphasizing that they attach great importance to the dissemination of bicycle use and pedestrianization projects in cities, Karaismailoğlu said that there are serious studies especially on the creation of bicycle paths. Karaismailoğlu said, “No one should doubt that we will continue to increase these routes even more” and noted that they have integrated the roads of micro mobility vehicles into metro and train lines.

Minister of Transport, Karaismailoğlu, said, “We are creating the general concept for the dissemination of public transportation and bicycle use in cities and pedestrianization projects. Kazlıçeşme-Sirkeci Urban Transportation and Recreation Focused Transformation Project is one of the best examples of this. This project is not only a rail system project, but also a pedestrian-oriented new generation transportation project. We will make the necessary improvements and changes on the 8,3 kilometer line between Sirkeci and Kazlıçeşme, and reopen the line for use. Although this project is a rail system project, its scope includes; 7,5 kilometers of bicycle paths, 7,5 kilometers of pedestrian paths, 10 thousand square meters of square and recreation areas, 6 thousand square meters of closed social cultural area, 74 thousand square meters of new green areas, 3 pedestrian overpasses, 22 highways and pedestrian underpasses , Yedikule, Kocamustafapaşa, Yenikapı, Kumkapı, 4 registered stations, 2 stations to be renewed, Sirkeci and Cankurtaran, and 2 new stations in Kazlıçeşme and Cerrahpaşa.

IT WILL BE A GREAT WORK THAT PERMANENTLY TOUCHES THE LIVES OF ISTANBULIS

The project; In addition to the transportation needs of the people of Istanbul; Karaismailoğlu stated that there will be a new generation transportation project with a mixed character that offers new opportunities such as socio-cultural, tourism, economic, ecological, recreation, sports, sightseeing, bicycle and scooter. and the underpass will be raised to make it suitable for ambulance and pedestrian transportation. With the new railway line to be built in Sirkeci Port Region, transportation and coordination will be provided between Sirkeci and Haydarpaşa ports. This project should not be considered as an occasion for an event that we have mentioned only within the scope of the European Mobility Week. It will be a great work that will permanently touch the lives of Istanbulites. We aimed to open our project before May 2023 and our work continues.”

FROM OCTOBER, WE WILL OPEN 1 METRO LINE EVERY MONTH.

Karaismailoğlu stated that the most important way to eliminate the traffic problem in parallel with the increasing population and number of vehicles, especially in big cities, is to expand the rail systems. we continue to do. Currently, a total of 13 kilometers of rail system line construction continues in 161 projects under construction by our Ministry. We realize 13 of 7 projects in Istanbul. We equip Istanbul from one end to the other with modern rail system networks. Pendik (Tavşantepe)-Sabiha Gökçen Airport Metro Line, Başakşehir-Çam Sakura-Kayaşehir Metro line, one of which is Kazlıçeşme-Sirkeci Rail System and Pedestrian Focused New Generation Transportation Project, where we met with you. Halkalı- Başakşehir-Istanbul Airport Metro line, Altunizade-Ferah Mahallesi-Çamlıca Mosque-Bosna Boulevard Rail System Project, Bakırköy-Kirazlı Metro Line and Gayrettepe-Kağıthane-Istanbul Airport Metro Line, 103,3 days and 7 hours construction on 7 separate routes with a length of 24 kilometers We continue our work. The biggest reason for our hard work is to connect the people of Istanbul with our metro lines as soon as possible. Our goal is to reduce traffic to the maximum extent by increasing urban mobility on the axis of metro lines. As of October, we have announced that we will open 1 metro line every month. In October, Kadıköy – We will put the Pendik – Sabiha Gökçen Airport Metro Line, which is the continuation of the Pendik Metro Line, to the service of our nation in November, the Kağıthane – Istanbul Airport part of our Gayrettepe – Istanbul Airport metro line. In December, we will inaugurate our Başakşehir - Kayaşehir Metro Line, which also passes through Çam and Sakura Hospital. We will put our other 4 lines into service in 2023”.

WE WILL CONTINUE OUR NEW INVESTMENTS AND INCENTIVES TO EXPAND MODERN TRANSPORTATION SYSTEMS

Stating that they will continue with new investments and incentives to expand such environmentally friendly modern transportation systems in order to prevent the concentration of vehicle traffic in the cities, Karaismailoğlu said, “As the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure, we are planning our investments in the focus of mobility, logistics and digitalization to ensure the mobility of people, freight and data. In this context, we have prepared our plans and strategies such as 'Transportation and Logistics Master Plan, National Intelligent Transportation Systems Strategy and Action Plan and Accessible Transportation Strategy and Action Plan' by considering environmental and sustainable transportation from a broad perspective. While we create the legislation and standards that will ensure the realization of these action plans, we also implement our investments and projects in this direction. With these studies, we will create strategies and policies to reduce transportation-oriented carbon emissions and to encourage sustainable and environmentally friendly modes of transportation.

WE WILL DEVELOP “MOBILTY HUB- MOBILITY CENTERS” PROJECTS

Emphasizing that they will develop “mobility hubs” projects, which will be implemented in the field in the near future, Karaismailoğlu said that they encourage the development of domestic and national technologies for the creation of a sustainable environment and the transition to clean energy in the field of transportation. Minister of Transport Karaismailoğlu said, “We are carrying out the works for the technical and administrative infrastructure necessary to increase the use of electric vehicles and the installation of charging stations for electric vehicles. We are establishing a transportation network in our cities where short and medium distance trips can be made by walking, scooter, bicycle and public transportation, and long distance trips can be made with shared, electric vehicles and rail systems. In the European Mobility week, celebrated this year with the motto of better connections, greener tomorrows; We are happy to be in Europe's most environmentally friendly rail system project with our brothers who believe in us, whose hearts beat with us, and who say 'Forward Together'.
