Alstom, the world leader in smart and sustainable mobility, and the Romanian Railway Reform Authority (ARF) have signed an addition to the first contract, for the delivery of Coradia Stream interregional trains and related 15 years of maintenance services. These trains will complete the first 2022 trains ordered in March 20 and form the first passenger rail fleet supplied by Alstom in Romania.

Coradia Stream trains developed for the European market are equipped with ERTMS. It is a Level 2 traffic control system and complies with both European standards (EN) and Technical Interoperability Specifications (TSIs) and can operate on all major European power supply systems. The maximum speed of the trains will be 160 km / h.

In order to provide easy access for all passengers, each under-train carriage will have a total capacity of 350 seats and 100% low floor. There will be two entrance doors on each side of the middle wagons and one on each side of the last wagons. The passenger information system will include an audio system and a dynamic display system. Each train carriage will be equipped with oversized luggage racks.

Coradia Stream trains will also be equipped with a digital system for passenger counting with high-precision sensors. Each train will have four ecological toilets evenly distributed along the entire length of the train, one of which is designed for people with reduced mobility. The final configuration, colors and finishes will be fully customized at the design stage according to the requirements of the Contracting Authority.

Coradia Stream is a state-of-the-art, low-floor, high-performance electric multiple unit (EMU) that offers a modular design and allows operators to choose their best configuration and interior. Developed for the European market, Coradia Stream can operate on all major European power supply systems. The Coradia Stream family is a huge success across Europe, with around 900 trains ordered in Denmark, Germany, Italy, Luxembourg, Spain and the Netherlands, along with Romania. Trains in Italy have been in service since mid-2019, proving once again the reliability of this solution.
