Turkey, which is by far the world leader in the production and export of raisins, earned 2021 million dollars from seedless raisins in the 22/3 season with an increase of 441 percent. Seedless raisin exports, which started the 2021/22 season on September 1, 2021, reached 99 countries and increased by 3 percent to 441 million 862 thousand dollars. Exporting 1 thousand 2021 thousand tons of raisins in the period from September 31, 2022 to August 252, 354, Turkey achieved an increase of 13 percent on quantity basis compared to the previous season.
Mehmet Ali Işık, Chairman of the Aegean Dried Fruits and Products Exporters' Association, emphasized that Turkey alone meets 2021 percent of the world's 22 million 290 thousand tons of production with a yield of approximately 1 thousand tons in the 301/22 season.
“Seedless raisins is our top export product in product-based export revenue in the Aegean Region. Our industry generates an average of 450 million dollars in foreign currency inflows every year. This year, we exceeded our export target of 200 thousand tons by 25 percent. While we exported raisins to 2020 countries in 21/91, we increased our export market to 99 countries and regions this season. 33 percent of the world's exports of seedless raisins are made by our country. Raisin exports, of which 95 percent of our region is realized, reached 2021 million dollars with an increase of 22 percent in the 3/441 season. We exported 80 million dollars to the European continent, which is our main trade partner, with a share of 345 percent.
We increased our seedless raisin exports to the Americas by 26 percent, and increased by over 100 percent to the African continent. Progressing 25 percent in Far East and Asian countries, we exported 15 million dollars to Japan with an increase of 13 percent, and 99 million dollars to China with an increase of 4 percent. In the Middle East countries, we recorded 83% acceleration. When we look at the countries in the first place in our raisin exports; The United Kingdom is our traditional trade partner with 111 million dollars, we increased our exports to Germany, the second country with the highest demand for Turkish seedless raisins with 62 million dollars, we increased our exports by 9 percent, we have 41 million dollars of exports to the Netherlands, 34 percent acceleration with 9 million dollars of exports to Italy we recorded. Our exports to Australia increased by 37 percent and reached 28 million dollars. We left behind a satisfactory season for producers and exporters, and we expect a yield of over 2022 thousand tons in the 23/300 season. We foresee that we will reach 500 million dollars in the export of seedless raisins in the new season.” said.
Turkey exported a total of 1 thousand 2021 tons of dried apricots in the period from August 30, 2022 to July 80, 763, leaving the 29/375 season behind with an increase of 2021 percent and 22 million dollars.
All dried apricots, which were exported for 2020 thousand 21 dollars in the 3/499 season, found buyers for 2021 thousand 22 dollars in 115 countries in the 4/810 period. Our dried apricot exports to the European continent reached 21 million dollars with an increase of 154 percent. We exported 26 million dollars to the Americas with an increase of 87 percent, 58 million dollars to African countries with an increase of 19 percent, and 56 million dollars to Asian, Oceania and Far East countries with an increase of 50 percent. We increased our dried apricot exports to China by 123 percent and reached 15 million dollars. We have an increasing graph of 47 percent in India, 40 percent in New Zealand, and 20 percent in Japan. We exported 33 million dollars to Middle Eastern countries with an increase of 16 percent.
In the 2021/22 season, on a country basis; we sent the most apricots to the USA, with an increase of 26 percent, with an export revenue of 57 million dollars. France demanded 40 million dollars with an increase of 35 percent, Germany demanded 4 million dollars with an increase of 29 percent, the United Kingdom demanded 25 million dollars with an increase of 21 percent, and Australia demanded Turkish dried apricots for 45 million dollars with an increase of 17 percent.
