Industry and Technology Minister Mustafa Varank watched the TEKNOFEST Aviation, Space and Technology Festival in Kütahya and the International Free Duty Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV) Competition organized by the Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TÜBİTAK). Minister Varank said that nearly 600 thousand competitors applied to TEKNOFEST this year.

In his speech here, Varank stated that they spread TEKNOFEST to different cities of Turkey and said, “We held our competitions in Trabzon, Ordu and Giresun. This year is the 100th anniversary of the Great Victory, so we decided to hold one leg of our competitions in Kütahya and Afyonkarahisar. Minister Varank said that he accompanied the enthusiasm from the moment he entered the area, and that he closely witnessed the excitement of the students and guests. Emphasizing that the excitement they created in Turkey at this point made them happy, Varank said, “We were in Kocaeli recently for autonomous vehicle competitions, our friends there mentioned that the companies in the IT Valley immediately recruited the competitors. We went to rocket competitions, our young brothers who competed in rocket competitions have now established their own companies, they do business in the market and contribute to the economy. We believe wholeheartedly that the youth of TEKNOFEST, who compete here, will build the Turkey of tomorrow.” said.

BUILDING TURKEY'S FUTURE

Varank stated that they believe that the future of Turkey will be built by the TEKNOFEST generation. Expressing his thanks to the city administration in Kütahya, who contributed to the organization of the competition, Varank said, “We organize these competitions so that our young people and students learn about the trends of the future, take an interest in technology, in which areas there is potential in the future, and focus on those areas. While inviting our young brothers to these competitions, we give them technical support. We bring together the most advanced companies in the business. Technical staff, consultants help them. We bring these brothers and we welcome them here.” he said.

FINANCIAL SUPPORT

Noting that the young people competing in these competitions are given financial support as well as technical support, Varank said, “They have an expense, and this expense is covered by TÜBİTAK, the Ministry of Industry and Technology and sponsor companies. You see, someone is persistently making the following headlines: 'The ministries opened their mouths for the groom's TEKNOFEST.' We really cannot accept this understanding. We make all the investment for these young people. If we open the mouth of the pouch, we open the mouth of the pouch for these youngsters. We will not demoralize, but we will give answers to those who do these things, and we will continue on our way with the same determination.” he said.

Minister Varank visited the stands of the young people in the competition area, watched the competitions and offered ashura to the participants.

Kütahya Governor Ali Çelik, AK Party Kütahya Deputies İshak Gazel, Ahmet Tan and Ceyda Çetin Erenler, TÜBİTAK President Prof. Dr. Hasan Mandal, former minister Veysel Eroğlu and many people attended.

440 teams and approximately 3 students applied to the International Free Duty UAV Competition, which was held for the second time this year. The competition, in which 500 teams from Poland and 2 team from Pakistan participated, and the UAVs of 1 national and international teams that were found successful according to scientific and technical criteria, will end on August 98.
