The 5th Barbaros Hollow Festival started yesterday to support agricultural development and create employment for young people in the village. The 5th Barbaros Hollow Festival started yesterday, with the bride-groom costumed scarecrows on horseback, accompanied by drums and zurnas, to the village square. İzmir Metropolitan Municipality Councilors Nilay Kökkılınç and Bülent Köklü, Urla Municipality Councilor Deniz Ulçay, İzmir Metropolitan Municipality Peninsula Branch Manager Yener Kırmızı, İzmir deputies, representatives of non-governmental organizations, villagers from Urla attended the opening ceremony of the festival.

In addition to art and production

In the festival, where many workshops for adults and children will be held for three days, the “Portraits” exhibition of Ayten Öğütçü, one of the important puppet-making artists of Turkey, and the “Traces of Nature” mix of Izmir University of Economics faculty members, which makes nature-friendly, sustainable fashion visible against fast and consumption-oriented fashion. exhibition and Belkis Ersan Yaka's “Field Hats” exhibition. The "Barbaros Water Culture Heritage Exhibition", which reveals the creativity of people in the storage and use of spring water in case of need, is also within the scope of the festival. The most beautiful door, window front and courtyard competition, the most beautiful scarecrow competition, interviews on important issues such as health and nutrition, activities for children such as “Field of Thought” and “Yoga Workshop” are among the rich content of the festival.

In the village, the field scarecrows are called “hollows”. The purpose of the festival is to support agricultural development and create employment for the youth in the village.
