Developed by Baykar, the manufacturer of Turkey's national SİHA systems, the national SİHA Bayraktar TB2, which is shown as the best in its class in the world when its technical features and the operations it participated in are evaluated, entered the inventory of the Turkish Armed Forces (TSK) in 2014.
The unmanned aerial vehicle, which was armed in 2015, is now operationally used by the Turkish Armed Forces, Gendarmerie General Command, General Directorate of Security and MIT. Bayraktar TB2 SİHA has been actively working in the fight against terrorism in the country and across the border by the security forces since 2014.
Export to 23 countries
Bayraktar TB2s, Turkey's first SİHA platform exported to the world, are followed with interest by the world aviation and defense industry. Export contracts were signed with 23 countries, including Ukraine, Qatar, Azerbaijan and Poland.
Having exported 2021 million dollars of S/UAV systems in 664, Baykar became the company that exports the most in the field of defense and aerospace, according to the data announced by the Turkish Exporters Assembly. Baykar currently generates more than 90% of its revenues from exports. Negotiations continue with many countries that are interested in the National SİHA Bayraktar TB2.
First UAV export to a NATO and EU member country
Bayraktar TB2 SİHAs, which broke new ground in the history of Turkish aviation, will also fly over Polish skies this year. Thus, for the first time, Turkey will have exported a high-tech SİHA (Armed Unmanned Aerial Vehicle) to a NATO and European Union (EU) member country.
Aid campaigns started
Bayraktar TB2 SİHAs are actively used by the Ukrainian Army for defense purposes in the ongoing war between Russia and Ukraine. Aid campaigns are organized by the public in Lithuania, Ukraine, Poland, Latvia, Norway and Canada to purchase Bayraktar TB2s and donate them to the Ukrainian Army. Baykar did not accept the donations collected from the campaigns organized in Lithuania, Ukraine and Poland and donated the aid collected for the purchase of Bayraktar TB2 SİHA to meet the humanitarian needs of the Ukrainian people.
The domestic rate is at a record level
Baykar, which has developed the software and hardware systems, which are the greatest added value in the field of unmanned aerial vehicles since the beginning of the 2000s, nationally and uniquely with its team of Turkish engineers, is shown as one of the world's leading technology companies in its field with its engineering power in 13 different disciplines.
Bayraktar TB2 SİHAs, all critical parts, designs and software of which were developed nationally and uniquely by Baykar, are produced at the Özdemir Bayraktar National Technology Center in Istanbul with a 93% domestic industry participation, which is a record in the world.

Bayraktar TB2 SİHAs were transferred to the region in a very short time, such as 24 minutes, after the 2020 magnitude earthquake in Elazığ Sivrice that occurred on January 6,8, 25, and transferred instant images and information from the points where transportation is difficult to Ankara and the command centers of the earthquake-affected provinces. Bayraktar TB2 SİHAs, in addition to supporting search and rescue efforts from the sky, also serve to control the heavy vehicle traffic after the earthquake and to continue the future aid without interruption.
Taking part in the rescue of immigrants
Bayraktar TB2s also make an important contribution to the documentation of human rights violations, such as saving the lives of many irregular migrants by following the ongoing irregular migration movements in the Aegean and Mediterranean from the sky, and pushbacks that do not fall on the world's agenda.
Played an important role in the liberation of Karabakh
Bayraktar TB2 SİHAs also played an important role in ending the 30-year-long Karabakh occupation of brotherly country Azerbaijan. Azerbaijan launched a military operation against Nagorno-Karabakh, occupied by Armenia, on September 27, 2020. On November 44, 10, 2020 days after the start of the operation, the Azerbaijani Army ended the occupation of Armenia and took Nagorno-Karabakh under control.
During the operation against Armenia, the Azerbaijan Army used Bayraktar TB2 SİHAs, which were developed nationally and specifically by Baykar, on the entire front line. According to studies confirmed by defense analysts, Bayraktar TB2 SİHAs destroyed many air defense systems, radar systems, tanks, armored vehicles, trucks, arsenals, positions and units belonging to the Armenian Army. This success of the Azerbaijan Army, which surprised the world, was interpreted by the world media and defense experts as the Turkish SİHAs reached a playmaker power by changing the war history.
