With the project, the historical texture of the region will be revealed, the attractiveness of the region will increase and tourism will revive.

A new one is being added to the arrangement works of Izmir Metropolitan Municipality on the Konak-Kadifekale axis. Taking action to protect the old structures that constitute the cultural and historical richness of the city, to transfer them to future generations and to bring them to tourism, the Metropolitan Municipality will restore 6 historical buildings in Basmane Pazaryeri District, including Tevfik Paşa Mansion and the house where the famous writer Tarık Dursun K lived for a while. . Restoration works that will begin in the coming days will cost 31 million 880 thousand liras.

Izmir Metropolitan Municipality provided the entrance structure to the south of the Ancient Smyrna Agora excavation site, Havra Street and 848 Street were renovated, and Azizler Street and Hatuniye Square, the heart of Basmane, were also arranged.

History comes to light

It enlivens the historical street in Pazaryeri Neighborhood in Basmane District of the Metropolitan Municipality, where different examples of 19th century traditional Izmir houses are positioned opposite each other. Historical and registered Ottoman-era residences that have survived to this day on 945 Street but will be destroyed if not preserved will be opened to accommodation and daily tours with the restoration works to be carried out. Buildings with courtyards will also serve as cafes, restaurants and breakfast rooms. Tevfik Pasha Mansion, which is owned by Tarkem and one of the biggest historical buildings of Basmane region, will be kept alive as an accommodation after the restoration works.

In the second stage, there is street and square arrangement.

In the second phase of the Basmane Hotels Project, Izmir Metropolitan Municipality will carry out the restoration work of two more historical buildings located on 945 Street. In addition, a new structure will be built instead of a structure that is incompatible with the texture. Within the scope of the project, the story of the 'brittle girl' who took shelter in the dead end of 945 Street during the War of Independence and died when the doors she stole were not opened will also be kept alive. A square will be arranged in memory of Gevrekçi Kız.
