Ankara Metropolitan Municipality continues its 'women-friendly' practices without slowing down. The Metropolitan Municipality, which has signed projects that prioritize public health, implemented the "Women's health information seminars" project, which it signed in cooperation with Gazi University. With the seminars on "women's health" in 21 Women's Club located throughout the capital city, "field studies" were started in rural districts.

OBJECTIVE: CREATING AWARENESS ON WOMEN'S HEALTH

A total of 16 female members, 28 foreign and 44 Turkish citizens, attended the seminar held at Altındağ Women's Club within the scope of the project carried out by the Women's and Family Services Department, Women's Family Branch Directorate.

Stating that these seminars were started to inform women living in Başkent about women's health and to raise awareness, Gazi University Faculty of Health Sciences Nursing Department Research Assistant Dr. Sıdıka Pelit Aksu made the following assessments:

“We, as Gazi University, signed a protocol with the Metropolitan Municipality this term. In this context, we provide training to women by reaching Women's Clubs in the Ankara region. Among these training topics, we want to raise awareness among women about the internal and external reproductive organs of women, the pregnancy process and the examinations that women can do on their own bodies. While answering the questions of our women, in the next stage, we will rearrange the subjects they demand and continue the trainings.”

SEMINARS WILL CONTINUE UNTIL THE END OF THE YEAR

While the seminars that will continue until the end of the year are explained with the support of visual slide shows and models, local members of the women who participated in the seminar held at Altındağ Women's Club expressed their thoughts on the information they gained with the following words:

Gokcen Gokce: “There are subjects that I did not know until this age. I consider myself lucky to have access to this information. All women need to learn this information. Any information that a person can get to know himself or herself, whether young, old or child, will benefit us.”
Raina Kayral: “Such seminars are given from time to time. They call us and invite us to training. We had the opportunity to access a lot of information about women's health.”
Sultan Irezar: “I am a mother of two children. There is a lot we do not know about women's health and this creates awareness for us. In order to raise healthy children and healthy individuals, we first gain knowledge starting from our body. We are very pleased with this service of our municipality.”
Accepted Sugar: “We were not offered these opportunities before. I think we are not late for training. I would also like to thank our municipality for taking the initiative in this. I had the chance to answer the questions in my mind and I was enlightened. Thank you for valuing us and delivering this information to us.”
