The Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change suspended the 2nd Stage Revision Zoning Plans for Yenişehir's reserve building area, which is planned to be built around Kanal Istanbul, on March 25, 2021.
According to the news of Özlem Güvemli from SÖZCÜ; “In the said plans, it was decided to change the functions of the gendarmerie service area and the indoor sports facility area in line with the demands of the relevant people, the needs of the region and the opinions of the institution.
The Ministry approved the plan change it made in this context on February 3, 2022 and suspended it. According to the explanation report regarding the plan change, the area in question is located in the middle of the Çatalca peninsula, south of the Northern Marmara Highway, east of the Dursunköy District. And it covers an area of about 96 square meters.
SPACE ALLOCATION REQUESTED FOR GANDARMA STATIONS
In the report, with the letter of the Istanbul Governorship Gendarmerie Command dated 16 May 2018, the allocation of space in order to ensure the safety of the Kanal Istanbul Project and to open new Gendarmerie stations in effective and visible points in order to prevent and intervene in possible security and public order incidents, considering that the population in the region will increase due to the said projects. has been requested.
It has been stated that the necessity of planning the Gendarmerie Service Area in an effective, visible and highly accessible location close to the Northern Marmara Highway, in order to prevent and intervene in possible security and public order incidents.
THE POSITION HAS BEEN REPLACED
For this purpose, the location of the "gendarmerie service area" was changed in accordance with the demands of the relevant people, the opinions of the institution and the needs of the region.
The new function of the area, which was previously designated as the "Technical infrastructure" function, was changed to the "Administrative service-Gendarmerie service area".
NEW FUNCTION: INDOOR SPORTS FACILITY
The area designated as “gendarmerie service area, high school, park and road areas” in the current plan was canceled considering the demands from the relevant institutions and the needs of the region. This area was planned as an “indoor sports facility”.
In the report, it was stated that the population of 116 thousand 141 people previously determined for this region did not change with the change in the Plan.
In the indoor sports facility area, the precedent was set as 1. In this area, buffet, restaurant and patisserie units can be built for the needs of the spectators and athletes.
