National Pride from ELECTRA IC: Domestic On-System Module Developed!

ELECTRA IC, which operates under the umbrella of Teknopark Istanbul, one of the biggest supporters of the Turkish entrepreneurship ecosystem, has produced domestic On-System Modules (SoM) for use in areas such as radar, wireless communication, missile systems and electronic warfare systems.

ELECTRA IC, which operates under the roof of Teknopark Istanbul, one of the biggest supporters of the Turkish entrepreneurship ecosystem, produced System-on-Module (SoM) with 100 percent Turkish labor. The processor, communication interfaces, memory blocks, etc. on a single printed circuit board (PCB). The ready-made electronic card SoM, which contains all the necessary units such as power management, has a very wide usage area. The module called BitFlex-SPB-A7 produced by ELECTRA IC is based on AMD's 7 series Xilinx FPGAs, which are used in different functions. FPGA (Field-Programmable Gate Array), a reprogrammable microchip, is preferred to develop complex and high-performance systems. Designed by ELECTRA IC engineers for use in many areas involving digital signal processing such as radar, wireless communication, missile systems, electronic warfare. The card is shown as a successful example of cost-effective solutions produced with national resources.

“Our domestic product was also introduced to the world market”

ELECTRA IC Managing Partner and Engineering Director İsmail Hakkı Topcu said, “Our company, which has years of experience in both digital design and digital hardware design, designed and produced BitFlex-SPB-A2022 SoM with national resources in 7 upon the request of a customer. Project verifications were made within comprehensive test scenarios in a laboratory environment. Acceptance tests were completed by our customer and the completely domestic product was accepted. All these processes were completed in approximately 1 year. Thus, companies in our country will now be able to procure this product from us locally and nationally, instead of importing similar products. Since ELECTRA IC is AMD's Elite Partner, our product was also offered to the world market on AMD's website.” said.

Noting that they further strengthened their existing experience by turning their expertise in digital design and hardware design into a product, İsmail Hakkı Topcu said, “We are stronger in the future to develop similar products with different interfaces or containing different FPGA families for our customers. As ELECTRA IC, we are developing projects in the "Advanced Electronic Technologies" focus area of Teknopark Istanbul in many sectors that include chip design and verification, such as the defense industry, electric cars and consumer electronics.

“The success of our companies strengthens us as well”

Teknopark Istanbul General Manager Muhammet Fatih Özsoy said, “As one of Turkey's leading innovation centers, we will continue to contribute to the development of critical technologies for our country by supporting our visionary entrepreneurs. We are very happy and proud of ELECTRA IC's important contribution to domestic production. Each project that is implemented strengthens Teknopark Istanbul while reaching its goal. We congratulate those who contributed to their success.” made the statement.
