Stating that the most important component of the Istanbul-Izmir Highway connecting Istanbul to the Aegean is the Osmangazi Bridge, Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu reminded that the bridge was put into service on July 1, 2016. Minister Uraloğlu said, “It took approximately one and a half hours to cross the bay using the old road, and 45 to 60 minutes to cross the bay by ferry. Waiting times were also longer on busy days such as holidays. "Thanks to the Osmangazi Bridge, we reduced this transition to 6 minutes," he said.

Minister Uraloğlu underlined that thanks to the bridge, a serious time and fuel saving was achieved, and he said that thanks to the bridge, the loss of time and fuel that would occur due to the increasing number of vehicles and traffic was prevented.

Emphasizing that 13 thousand 117 vehicles passed through the Osmangazi Bridge on April 537, Minister Uraloğlu stated that the number of crossings on this date was 2,94 times the guaranteed number of vehicles.

Minister Uraloğlu said, “With the figure reached on April 13, the record broken last year with 24 thousand 2023 vehicles passing on June 111, 770 was surpassed. There were 11 thousand 109 crossings from the Osmangazi Bridge on the second day of the holiday (April 688), 12 thousand 111 crossings on the third day of the holiday (April 699), and 117 thousand 537 crossings yesterday. In other words, there was a significant increase in vehicle mobility after the holiday. Since April 4, 835 thousand 128 vehicles have used the bridge. "The guarantee coverage rate has increased to 209 percent," he said.
