Minister of Industry and Technology Mehmet Fatih Kacır met with Turkey's leading technology manufacturers and entrepreneurs. Minister Kacır attended the "Turkey's Technology Journey" session within the scope of the SDN Summit 2024 program held at Istanbul Haliç Congress Center. Speaking at the summit, where the heart of technology will beat in the Golden Horn for two days, Kacır noted that the presence of high technology and digital technology on Turkey's agenda is one of the things they desire most. Explaining that innovative technologies are now transforming the world, Kacır said that Turkey aims to be a country that is not only a consumer but also a developer and producer of these, and that it has made significant progress in this race. Kacır drew attention to the change and transformation that artificial intelligence has brought and will bring, and stated that this technology will have positive touches on human life.

ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE

Stating that artificial intelligence will be valuable to the extent that it is useful for humanity, Kacır emphasized that it is important that all technologies, including artificial intelligence, be built for the benefit of humanity, on an ethical framework, on a moral basis, and in this context, an ethical framework should be established at the global level. Explaining that artificial intelligence is an area that should be managed, not feared, Kacır stated that artificial intelligence studies are carried out in technoparks and R&D centers, especially TÜBİTAK, in Turkey and that the country's capacity to develop artificial intelligence technologies has increased.

DATA SECURITY

Providing information about the studies carried out on data security in Turkey, Kacır said, “We already have some support and incentives for hyperscale data center investments, and there are international investors we are meeting with in this field. I believe that the work we do in the coming period will enable them to have a greater presence in Turkey, and Turkey will continue to accelerate in digital transformation and technology.” he said.

ENTREPRENEUR SUPPORTS

Referring to the support given to entrepreneurs, Kacır emphasized that Turkey follows a different path in this field compared to other countries, and that it attaches importance to equality of opportunity so that all segments of the society can become entrepreneurs. Kacır said, “We have not left this area only to funds and private sector investments. "As a public sector, we implement many programs to fund and support entrepreneur candidates, especially at the idea stage." said.

MORE THAN 10 THOUSAND TECHNOLOGY INITIATIVES

Kacır pointed out that they made an effort to create thousands of startups and said, “We have increased the number of our technoparks tremendously. There are currently 102 technoparks in Turkey, more than 10 thousand technology startups, and nearly 2 of them are incubation startups. All the work we have done has greatly expanded the venture capital structure. In 500, 2021, 2022, venture capital fund investments increased tremendously. Nearly 2023 billion dollars of fund investment has been made in these 3 years alone. While previously it was approximately 4 million dollars a year, we have enabled an investment of nearly 100 billion dollars in technology startups through venture capital funds in 3 years. “We don't want to lose this momentum.” he said.

We have to produce battery cells in Turkey. We have to be assertive in smart vehicle and autonomous vehicle technologies. “We will continue to support local brands.” said.
