23 April Message from Canbey

Balıkesir Deputy Dr. Mustafa Canbey stated that April 23, 1920, the opening of the Turkish Grand National Assembly, was a historical turning point in the name of national will and democracy, with the motto "Sovereignty belongs unconditionally to the nation". Stating that an epic struggle was waged against the enemies who intended freedom and independence, in unity and solidarity with all the members of the Turkish nation, Canbey said, "Our Grand National Assembly, which was opened in Ankara exactly a century ago with prayers, takbirs and salawat reciting, was a great victory for our nation and state at a time when our homeland was occupied." It became the center of the struggle for freedom. Our Grand National Assembly of Turkey, which has been the indispensable manifestation of the national will against coups, tutelage attempts and terrorist attacks, once again received the title of veteran after being bombed during the July 15 Coup attempt. "Our Gazi Assembly will forever be the headquarters of the nation's will, democracy and independence, as it has been for 104 years." he said.

On April 23; Noting that democracy is the most important symbol of national will, as well as being a sign of the value our nation attaches to its children and its trust in its youth, Canbey continued his message as follows: “As a nation, we see our children as our most valuable assets in the world, just like our independence, and we cherish them. As the AK Party, our greatest desire is to ensure that our children grow up as healthy individuals who are useful to their state and nation through good education and training. Because this ancient state will rise on the shoulders of our children, and with their enthusiasm, the Türkiye Century will achieve our goals. In addition, unfortunately, the brutality in which tens of thousands of children lost their lives and hundreds of thousands of children became orphans still continues in Gaza. Children's ears should ring with the joyful voices of their peers, not with the sounds of bombs. Children's hearts should beat with love, enthusiasm and hope, not with anxiety. Children should sleep in the lap of peace, not in the grip of fear. No matter what anyone says about this, we will continue to do our best under the leadership of our President, Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. On this occasion, I remember with mercy and gratitude the Commander-in-Chief of our War of Independence, the first President of the Turkish Grand National Assembly, the founder of our Republic, Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, and all our martyrs and veterans. “I wholeheartedly congratulate all children of the world on this exceptional holiday.”
