Konya Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Uğur İbrahim Altay stated that some of the water needs of Seydişehir district center are met; He examined the works on the Drinking Water Softening Facility to be established in Çaltepe location, which has water hardness and lime problems.
Stating that quality drinking water will be delivered to citizens within the scope of the works, Mayor Altay said, “As you know, we provide drinking water to Seydişehir from two regions. One is from Kuğulu Park Region and the other is from Çaltepe Location. Especially the neighborhoods that use the water here have intense complaints about the hardness of the water. Since it is not possible to change the water source, we are implementing an important facility to reduce the hardness of the water. Hopefully, we are starting the construction of our facility that will reduce the water from 30 French hardness to 15 French hardness. We have completed our excavation works, we plan to lay the foundations as soon as possible, complete our construction in the first 6 months, and provide water to the Kuğulu Park standard to all our citizens. Our facility, which will cost 20 million liras, is being built with the own resources of our KOSKİ General Directorate. Thus, we will solve another problem of our Seydişehir. Our duty, as the Metropolitan Municipality, is to resolve all the complaints of our citizens. We are carrying out the process in coordination with our district municipality on this issue. Seydişehir Mayor Mehmet Tutal thanked Konya Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Uğur İbrahim Altay for his support and said: “One of the main issues discussed in our district was that the water used by 5 neighborhoods of our district was hard and calcareous. We researched external sources, but since it was not easy to bring an external water source in the short term, a solution was produced to purify this water, reduce and soften its lime. Konya Metropolitan Municipality KOSKİ General Manager Ahmet Demir said, “We are building a treatment plant and softener with a daily capacity of 100 liters/second. Therefore, the quality of the water we will obtain here will be the same as the water quality in Kuğulu Park,” he said.
