Tid: Türkiye Should Create Its Own Artificial Intelligence Law

Turhan Menteş stated that discussions on the use and regulation of artificial intelligence in Turkey will continue and that the European Artificial Intelligence Law aims to ensure the ethical and safe use of artificial intelligence technology. Menteş stated that TİD supports the protection of human rights in harmony with artificial intelligence technology. Menteş said, “Today, the question of whether artificial intelligence will have an impact on society is not discussed. The question that needs to be discussed is who, how, where and when this positive or negative effect will be felt.” said.

Stating that they will continue to bring to the agenda the discussions on the use and regulation of artificial intelligence technology in Turkey, Menteş said, "The European Artificial Intelligence Law aims to protect human rights to ensure the ethical and safe use of artificial intelligence technology." said.

Pointing out the importance of implementing strong regulations and effective policies in Turkey, Menteş emphasized the necessity of regulations on five main issues such as data protection and privacy regulations, ethics and responsibility principles, industrial regulations, innovation incentives and supports, and international cooperation and standards. Arguing that these regulations should be created to ensure the safe, ethical and responsible use of artificial intelligence technologies, Menteş said in his written statement: “Businesses should use and develop artificial intelligence technologies in compliance with these regulations. “It is important to put in place strong regulations and effective policies to ensure the ethical and safe use of artificial intelligence technology.” he said.
