Transformation Begins for Bursa

Bursa Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Alinur Aktaş, who recently announced his vision and projects in the new era that will take the city further, stated that the most important topic in the coming period will be urban transformation. Stating that they dream of a resilient Bursa with its solid structures and urban transformation, Mayor Alinur Aktaş stated that the earthquake is an indisputable reality, especially for a city like Bursa, which is built on active fault lines. Stating that they saw once again that it was the right decision to give priority to urban transformation, especially the projects they carried out with TÜBİTAK and Japan International Cooperation Agency JICA before the February 6 earthquakes, Mayor Aktaş said, "Bursa is a resilient city with a scientific infrastructure and a holistic perspective, correct planning and common sense." We will start the transformation for you. In the past period, we started our work in areas with priority for the transformation of approximately 530 thousand buildings and 1 million independent residential units in Bursa. While some people have never done urban transformation in their life, they are talking about urban transformation these days. Thank God, we have the work we do. We started our projects all over Bursa, from Istanbul Street to Karapınar, from Akpınar-1050 Residences to Arabayatağı, from Hotsu-Gaziakdemir to Yiğitler and the historical city center. We complete it one by one. With our 14 different transformation projects, we will have delivered 2025 thousand houses to their beneficiaries by the end of 11. We continue our urban transformation works in historical areas, manufacturing and industrial areas, and public spaces and buildings. Our '2050 Environmental Plan' will form the main axis of our work. In our new term, we will put it into effect as a city constitution with academic contributions, common sense and consensus. "We continue our work with determination, together with JICA, our scientific board consisting of academicians who are experts in their fields, and our academic chambers," he said.

“BURSA IS A GREENER RESILIENT CITY”
Stating that they will continue urban transformation works in priority areas throughout Bursa, especially Mudanya and Gemlik districts, Mayor Aktaş said, “We are implementing our urban transformation project of 100 thousand houses in order to build Bursa, a more accessible and greener resilient city in the new period. We will not only strengthen the structures and ensure the safety of life and property of our citizens, but also connect the arteries within the city, open new roads, and raise the quality of the city to the next level with green areas and equipment areas. We will carry out these urban transformation works with the power of Bursa Metropolitan Municipality, its subsidiary Burkent, TOKİ and our private sector. We are also building 16 thousand new social houses in our city in the coming period. With this project, we make our citizens who do not have a home, especially our newly married couples, retirees and workers, homeowners with affordable prices and payment terms. "Now is the time for transformation for a happier, more prosperous and more livable Bursa that we always dream of, where the elderly, young, women, men and children feel safe and at peace," he said.

HANLAR REGION AND HİSAR REGION
Referring to the change and transformation in the Khans Area, Mayor Aktaş stated that they made history with Çarşıbaşı Square, the first stage of the Khans Area Project, which has been talked about for many years. Explaining that these works are just the beginning, Mayor Aktaş said, “We will process our Khans Region, which is on the UNESCO World Heritage List, step by step. We will continue to unearth history in our capital city, Bursa. We have unearthed many artifacts in the Hisar region in the past period, and we have reached an important level in the region with our work. In the coming period, we will give the Hisar Region the value it deserves, just like the Khanlar Region. We are also carrying out the transformation in the Setbaşı-Yeşil-Emirsultan section of our historical axis, on which we are working. "With our project, we are bringing to light another important value of Bursa," he said.

CUMALIKIZIK-ULUABAT-UMURBEY
Stating that one of the most important works to be carried out in the Kayhan region is the square and parking lot project, Mayor Aktaş stated that the square project, which will be built on an area of 3 thousand square meters, will fill an important deficiency in the market area with its indoor parking lot for approximately 300 vehicles. Stating that they will preserve and keep the historical neighborhoods and villages alive in addition to these works, Aktaş said, “With the arrangements we will make in Cumalıkızık, we will create a Cumalıkızık that will be envied by its visitors, where the historical texture comes to the fore, irregularities are eliminated, and the parking problem is eliminated. We will make Gölyazı, which shines like a pearl in the waters of Uluabat Lake, a unique tourism destination. We will make moves that will highlight the historical texture of our Umurbey neighborhood, where life continues throughout history on the slopes of Gemlik. "While we carry out all these works, the urban design guide, in which the corporate identity of the city is created, will shed light on us," he said.
