Sunflower Seed Support to Wise Producers in Bursa

Investment projects supported by the General Directorate of Crop Production of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry are being implemented in Bursa to increase crop production by using appropriate agricultural production methods in areas that are not cultivated or suitable for cultivated agriculture.

In this context, sunflower seeds, 615 percent of which are financed by the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, are distributed to a total of 75 producers in Bursa, which have significant economic value as well as being able to grow in alternative areas and interbreeding with grasses.

Bursa Provincial Agriculture and Forestry Director İbrahim Acar, who participated in the sunflower distribution program in Nilüfer district; He stated that the Projects for Enabling the Use of Agricultural Lands (TAKE), implemented by the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry throughout Turkey, continue in Bursa. Provincial Director Acar: “Our goal here is to increase the amount of plant production, especially by bringing unused and idle agricultural lands into agriculture. In addition, one of our goals here is to guide our farmers in producing the products that our country needs. For this reason, we prepared 9 TAKE projects for our Ministry. 7 of these projects were accepted by our Ministry. One of the projects we have prepared is the project related to the distribution of sunflower seeds. We are distributing sunflower seeds in Bursa this year in order to meet some of our country's oilseed needs. Our production amount in Turkey is approximately 2 million tons and our average yield in sunflower production is 230 kg. Our yield in sunflower production in Bursa is over 300 kg, which means we have a yield higher than Turkey's average. With the seeds we distribute, we can increase our production even more and contribute to the country's economy. We can also increase the productivity of our farmers a little more. “I hope the seeds will be beneficial to our producers.” said.

Bursa Provincial Director of Agriculture and Forestry İbrahim Acar, Nilüfer Chamber of Agriculture President Şenol Aybey and producers showed great interest in the seed distribution program held in İrfaniye District of Nilüfer District.
