Erdoğan said, "Those who were supposed to manage the city could not even sustain the investments they took over, let alone the new project, because they were busy with everything other than Istanbul." "I wonder if the metropolitan mayor who is currently ruling Istanbul has made the slightest investment in Sultanbeyli? What does the metropolitan municipality say? 'Full progress.' You're not going full speed ahead, you're going backwards at full speed. You have never once claimed Sultanbeyli. Istanbul has become deplorable with its transportation, its environment, its earthquake preparedness and its social municipality. When they are in need, when the weather is bad, they are either on holiday, pursuing the vice presidency, or fishing in Sarıyer with the ambassadors... Can these solve the problems of this city? Managing Istanbul is not a part-time job. Istanbul does not accept partners. You either serve Istanbul or you neglect this city, you are either passionately attached to Istanbul with love, or you have other agendas in your heart.
