Dr. Mehmet Özcan, CHP Keşan District Chairman Anıl Çakır and healthcare workers attended.

The program started with the presentation of wreaths to the Ataturk Monument, a moment of silence and the reading of the National Anthem. District Health Director Dr. In his speech at the ceremony, Hakan Çetin stated that he greeted everyone with respect and said, “I would like to start my words by talking about the history of March 14 Medicine Day and why it is celebrated on March 14. March 14, 1827 is considered the beginning of modern medical education for Turkish medicine. And Medicine Day was celebrated for the first time by medical students in 1919 as a reaction, an act of protest, against the occupation of Istanbul. It is also a reflection of the spirit of independence displayed by medical students against the occupation of the homeland. And since then, every March 14th has been celebrated as Medicine Day. Today, once again, we feel the justified pride of doing this distinguished, sacred profession. Our journey is long, our burden is heavy. Our burden is heavy, because our concern is people and human health. We have a lot of responsibility, a lot of responsibility because there is no compensation for the mistake we made. Despite this heavy burden on our backs, with this awareness of responsibility, with great devotion, often sacrificing our own lives, and even disregarding our lives, as in the pandemic period when many of our colleagues and healthcare workers lost their lives, especially you, my dear colleagues, whose sole purpose is to heal their patients. "I congratulate the entire medical community on March 14 Medicine Day and offer my respects," he said.

Speaking later, Keşan State Hospital Chief Physician Op. Dr. Recep Vural, on the other hand, reminded the Great Leader Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk's words 'Entrust me to Turkish doctors' and said that this is a sign of the public's trust in Turkish doctors.

Private Keşan Hospital Child Health and Diseases Specialist Dr. Uğur Özdağlı also mentioned the doctors who have accomplished important work from past to present and wished mercy to the doctors and healthcare workers who lost their lives in the pandemic and earthquakes centered in Kahramanmaraş. At the end of the program, Mustafa Helvacıoğlu congratulated the health workers on March 14 Medicine Day one by one and presented them with carnations.
