101st Anniversary of Atatürk's Arrival in Adana

At the ceremony, which was first held in Atatürk Park, Governor Yavuz Selim Köşger, Adana Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Zeydan Karalar and 6th Corps and Garrison Commander Major General Mehmet Özener stood in front of the Atatürk Monument and sang the National Anthem. “Great Leader Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, the Founder of the Republic of Turkey, usually made his country trips just before or after the days when important political and social changes took place, and Adana was one of the cities he visited most during these trips.

Mustafa Kemal Atatürk visited Adana 3 times in total, 6 before the Republic was declared and 9 after it, during his general or private country trips. He came to Adana for the first time on 31 October 1918 to take over the post of Yıldırım Army Group Commander.

His second visit to Adana was to preside over the Pozantı Congress held on August 5, 1920, during the years of the War of Independence.

Mustafa Kemal Atatürk made his third visit to Adana exactly 3 years ago today, on March 101, 15. After the success of the War of Independence, Atatürk started his first trip covering the southern provinces on 1923 March 13 and arrived in Adana on 1923 March.

Before coming to Adana, Mustafa Kemal Atatürk was welcomed with shows of joy at Yenice Station, and the delegations from Mersin and Tarsus asked him to honor Tarsus and Mersin as well. Responding positively to the demands, Atatürk departs for Adana after a half-hour stop. There is great excitement and joy when the train enters the station in Adana.

He stated that he decided to fight the War of Independence in Adana, with the strength he received from the people of Adana, and honored the people of Adana forever. .”
