Beşevler 10th Year Campus, which includes the Rectorate of Ankara University, Faculty of Science, Faculty of Pharmacy, Faculty of Dentistry, International Center and administrative units of the university, as well as Güneş Square, which hosts graduation ceremonies and spring festivals, is gaining a new social living space.
A groundbreaking ceremony was held for the Youth Center, which will have a total usage area of 2 thousand 3 square meters with a landscaping area of 74 thousand square meters when completed, with the participation of the rector, vice rectors, senate members, academicians and administrative staff.
Ankara University Rector Prof. Dr. In his speech at the ceremony, Necdet Ünüvar stated that they came together for the groundbreaking ceremony of a very meaningful business and that he was excited and happy about it.
Stating that universities require beautiful buildings, well-trained professors, very good equipment and very good students, Ünüvar said, “We will have very good teachers and very good teachers so that successful and hard-working students and students who will serve both our country and humanity by working at different levels of our country in the future will choose us.” We will have good buildings, we will have very nice laboratories, but these are not enough. The social opportunities you offer must also be sufficient. Because in our age, children not only want the elements I have mentioned, but also want places where they can spend time outside of class, libraries, youth centers, a tree shade where they can rest, and a structure in which they can feel at peace.”
Underlining that Ankara University is a very large university, Ünüvar said, “We have very important schools and very important campuses. I immerse myself in a different world in each of our campuses. Each of our campuses has beautiful features that reflect its own characteristics. "One of the most basic duties of us managers is not only to protect the existing situation, but also to take it further," he said.
Ünüvar emphasized that Beşevler 10th Year Campus is the heart of Ankara University and continued as follows:
“It is a campus in the very center of Ankara, where biodiversity is at a very high level. Here are the places our students use most. Therefore, we needed some beautification here, as in our other campuses. We prepared a project by taking steps to ensure the survival of any living creature without disturbing the texture of the area called 'greenhouses', without cutting down any trees, or touching any living creature. We first imagined a place where we could feel good, right in the middle of greenery, in the middle of nature, then we put it on paper and then knocked on the door of our Ministry of Youth and Sports. Our Minister of Youth and Sports, Mr. Osman Aşkın Bak, also paid very close attention. We are turning this place into Seralar Youth Center. "It will be a very nice youth center when it is finished."
Stating that they plan to complete the construction within a few months, Ünüvar noted that he also thanked the Minister of Youth and Sports Osman Aşkın Bak and his team.
