Minister Tunç Attended the Groundbreaking Ceremony of Malatya Palace of Justice

After the February 6 earthquakes, the existing Courthouse in Malatya was severely damaged and was subsequently demolished. Minister Tunç stated that the work will continue quickly to ensure that judicial personnel, who served at 7 different points after the earthquake, serve in the New Palace of Justice.

Malatya Chief Public Prosecutor Ömer Mete, who made the opening speech of the Groundbreaking Ceremony, said: “I wish God's mercy to all our citizens, especially our courthouse and prison personnel, who lost their lives due to the earthquakes that occurred on February 6, and I wish patience to their families.

As a result of the earthquakes, our Malatya Courthouse was heavily damaged and later demolished. With the instructions of our Minister, the project and tender works of our New Palace of Justice were quickly completed and the construction process started. When our service building, which will be completed within 700 days, begins its operations, our offices in different places will be gathered under one roof, providing an efficient, need-oriented working environment for our colleagues and lawyers, and our citizens' access to justice will be easier. "I hope that our new Palace of Justice will be beneficial to Malatya," he said.

Stating that he spent a lot of time meeting with the relevant authorities to build the New Palace of Justice, Malatya Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Selahattin Gürkan said, “Today is Friday, a blessed day, we are laying the foundation of our New Palace of Justice. I hope that our Malatya Palace of Justice will bring good luck to Malatya. When our esteemed Minister took office, together with our Minister Bülent, we conveyed to him our requests for a congratulatory visit and for the construction of our Palace of Justice as soon as possible. We, as Malatya Metropolitan Municipality, have truly demonstrated an exemplary municipality approach in Turkey, both in terms of allocating land to other public institutions and organizations, and in terms of building land. We did not divide our duties on this issue, be it the construction of the DSI Building, military barracks, libraries, inns, baths, caravanserais, tombs, tombs and social facilities. We allocated 100 decares of land belonging to our municipality to our Ministry of Justice for the construction of our Palace of Justice. Hopefully, our Justice Building had to be built in order for justice to be manifested as soon as possible, within the understanding of 'Justice is the basis of property'.

There are efforts to establish justice in 7 different places in Malatya. I believe that with the instructions of our Minister of Justice, our Palace of Justice will be built quickly within 700 days. "I hope that our new Palace of Justice will be auspicious for our Malatya, our justice organization in Malatya, our judges, prosecutors and all our citizens."

Minister of Justice Yılmaz Tunç gave information about the work carried out by the Ministry of Justice in Malatya and said, “We are together for the groundbreaking ceremony of the Malatya Courthouse. One year has passed since the February 6 earthquakes. But we continue to experience the pain of the earthquake. Our Malatya was greatly affected by the earthquakes. May God not let our country experience such disasters again. We have been continuing our efforts to rebuild our 1 provinces under the leadership of our President, Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, for a year.

Our Courthouse Buildings in 11 provinces were damaged during the earthquakes. One of these provinces was Malatya. Earthquake region Based on our President's idea that 'the earthquake region is our priority', we focused more on our provinces in the earthquake region. In this context, as the Ministry of Justice, we have included 11 Justice Service Buildings in our 24 provinces, including Malatya, in the investment program. In this context, we are laying the foundation of the New Palace of Justice, which we will build in place of the Palace of Justice, which was heavily damaged and therefore demolished in Malatya. Our New Palace of Justice, which will be built in Yeşiltepe District of Yeşilyurt district, will be a very large courthouse with a closed area of 86 thousand 633 square meters and will meet the needs of Malatya. We know that after the earthquake, courthouse personnel served in 7 different places and had difficulties in this regard. Therefore, hopefully we will solve these problems by building our Palace of Justice in a short time. As of today, the contract price of our Courthouse corresponds to 1 billion 461 million lira. Almost all of this figure was allocated as an allowance for this year's investment program. I would like to thank our esteemed President very much in your presence. Allocating the entire allowance means to the contractor company to 'act quickly'. Let's bring our Palace of Justice to Malatya as soon as possible and avoid any disruptions to the functioning of the judiciary. Hopefully, the contractor company will do its best and will build the Palace of Justice, which is expected to be built in 700 days, within 500 days and put it at the service of Malatya.

We don't just stay with our Malatya Palace of Justice. As the Ministry of Justice, we have important projects and investments in terms of the needs of Malatya and its districts. One of these, Malatya Regional Directorate of Forensic Medicine, will serve all surrounding provinces and will have a closed area of 16 thousand 69 square meters. I would also like to thank our Rector here. He reserved a place for us behind our university. Hopefully, we will lay the foundation for it as well. We don't stop there. There is a District Courthouse in Malatya, you know, but it is not operational yet. We are making efforts to make the Court of Appeal and the Regional Court of Justice operational in Malatya. We established the court, and hopefully we will put it into operation after the building is built. It will have a closed area of 22 thousand 750 square meters. We also included the construction of our Malatya Court of Appeal in the 2024 investment program. After the tender processes, hopefully we will lay the foundation of our Regional Court of Justice. We also have Akçadağ, Arapgir and Doğanşehir districts. The government mansions here will also be rebuilt. It will also include departments devoted to Justice Services. "I hope that all our work will bring good luck to Malatya and our Malatya citizens," he said.
