Material Support to Amateur Sports Clubs in Konya

Konya Provincial Director of Youth and Sports, Abdurrahman Şahin, stated that sports have developed in Konya thanks to the great support of the Ministry of Youth and Sports throughout the country and the Konya Metropolitan Municipality and district municipalities locally, and said, "In this context, many amateur sports clubs that are active in our city today, Konya We distribute the sports equipment purchased by our Metropolitan Municipality. Konya Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Uğur İbrahim Altay started his speech by emphasizing that, as the Metropolitan Municipality, they provide services in many areas, but the work they enjoy most is the work they do with young people.

Stating that he was very happy to be with athletes and sports clubs in such a program, Mayor Altay continued as follows: “Konya is a city that stands out in many senses. It is an agricultural city, an industrial city, a student city, but with the recent investments, it is also a sports city. By organizing the Islamic Solidarity Games in 2022, we have shown both the Islamic world and our country what a high level of sports facilities we have, and that we have the facilities to compete in all branches of the Olympics. Again, in 2022, we became the Sports Capital of the Islamic World, and in 2023, we were declared the World Sports Capital by UNESCO and the World Sports Cities Federation. In this sense, many competitions and organizations were held. The final matches of the quadruple cup of our Basketball Federation will also be played in Konya. I especially invite all my fellow citizens to the final match that will be played on Sunday at 15.30. Today, we will provide material support to our amateur sports clubs worth 7,5 million liras. I hope to contribute to the development of our children, the formation of their sports habits and their step into their professional lives in the future. “I hope it will be beneficial for our youth and athletes.”

President Altay also thanked AK Party Konya Deputy Mehmet Baykan, who participated in the program, stating that he made great contributions to amateur sports both during his ASKF Presidency and during his General Directorate of Sports period.

239 ACTIVE CENTERS 7,5 MILLION LIRAS OF MATERIALS

Konya Metropolitan Municipality distributed materials worth 239 Million Liras to 7,5 active clubs this year, including amateur football clubs, women's football clubs, clubs active in indoor sports, sports clubs for the disabled and Sports High Schools in the city center and districts.
