The Ministry of Interior reported that 12 people were caught in the Brake operation against International Auto Smugglers in Konya.

The statement made by the Ministry of Interior is as follows: “According to the statement made by the Ministry, in line with the findings of the Anti-Smuggling and Organized Crime Presidency and in coordination, within the scope of the investigation carried out for the crime of auto smuggling with the instructions of the Konya Chief Public Prosecutor's Office;

The activities of individuals and criminal groups who leave the vehicles brought to our country within the scope of temporary importation (touristic conveniences) to the use of third parties, sell the vehicles in our country by disassembling them or cause huge tax losses by illegal registration have been identified.

It was determined that the said criminal group brought 2018 vehicles (estimated value 2022 million TL) to our country within the scope of touristic conveniences between 115-240.

Within the scope of the operation, in the researches made on individuals and vehicles; The operation in question gained an international dimension after it was determined that there were foreign nationals who were found to have brought vehicles to our country. It has been determined that foreign nationals play a role in the process of bringing vehicles to our country by being used as courier.

A large amount of suspicious money transfers were detected during the investigations carried out to reveal the revenues of the criminal group from the crime.

As a result of the meticulous studies carried out for approximately one and a half years, on 1, 09.06.2023 Turkish and 10 foreign national suspects were searched in the addresses determined in Konya-centered 29 provinces (Konya, Edirne, Kocaeli, Istanbul, Tekirdağ, Eskişehir, Samsun, Hatay, Ankara, Antalya). An operation is carried out to arrest the person.

In the studies carried out so far, 12 persons have been caught, 15 tow trucks, 5 cars, 15 trailers and many licenses, the numerator and chassis plate used in the change process have been seized.

Operations are continuing.”
