İGA Istanbul Airport Hosted Its 200 Millionth Passenger

IGA Istanbul Airport, which is Europe's busiest and one of the world's most important global transfer centers, served its 3 millionth passenger as of Wednesday, May 2023, 200.

Since its inauguration on October 29, 2018, IGA Istanbul Airport has surpassed the 200 million passenger threshold and achieved another important success for Turkey in the aviation industry. Carrying Turkey to the next level in aviation with its unique architecture, strong infrastructure, superior technology and high-level travel experience, as well as its sustainability efforts, İGA Istanbul Airport hosted its 200 millionth passenger in an event it organized.

Carine Lee, 32, who was traveling from Istanbul to Singapore, was given a 200 millionth passenger plaque before her flight and a gift certificate that she could use at Duty Free operated by Unifree. Mehmet Büyükkaytan, Deputy General Manager for Operations at IGA Istanbul Airport, who attended the ceremony, also presented Lee with 1 IGA PASS Premium membership, which is the Istanbul Airport special passenger program. Stating that being the 200 millionth passenger was also a surprise for him, Lee stated that traveling from IGA Istanbul Airport made his journey very comfortable and boarded the plane to fly to Singapore.

While IGA Istanbul Airport has hosted 51 million 506 thousand 183 domestic and 148 million 493 thousand 817 international passengers since its inception, it has served more than 23 million passengers since the beginning of the year.

In its 4,5 years of operation, Antalya flights constituted the heaviest passenger traffic on local flights with 6 million 335 thousand 248 passengers, followed by İzmir with 6 million 175 thousand 472 passengers, Ankara with 4 million 874 thousand 14 passengers, and 3 million 603 thousand passengers. Adana followed with 883 passengers and Trabzon with 2 million 538 thousand 284 passengers.

In international flights, Tehran is the route with the heaviest passenger traffic with 5 million 764 thousand 713 passengers, followed by Moscow with 4 million 503 thousand 75 passengers, London with 3 million 786 thousand 903 passengers, Dubai with 3 million 214 thousand 308 passengers and 2 Tel Aviv followed with 723 thousand 274 passengers.
