Today, the amount of water we use in industry and cities is rapidly decreasing. This has highlighted the risk of water scarcity in many countries, including Turkey, in the foreseeable future. Increasing population and industrialization process in the world has increased water consumption significantly. This has made water scarcity one of the biggest risks of the 21st century. Istanbul-based Artemis Arıtım has succeeded in being the solution partner of many brands with the wastewater recovery projects it has developed. The company started to operate in Bulgaria and Libya. Artemis Arıtım General Manager Emel Aliipek shared important information about the risk of water scarcity and the role of recycling facilities in this process.

By 2050, 10 out of 4 people will suffer from water shortages

Emel Aliipek, who said that fresh water reserves in the world are limited and most of this reserve is not used, said, “Today, the amount of water we use in industry and cities is rapidly decreasing. This has highlighted the risk of water scarcity in many countries, including Turkey, in the foreseeable future. The year 2050 is important in this respect. According to the State of Climate Services report, prepared with the contribution of various organizations affiliated to the United Nations (UN), more than 2050 countries will be among the countries that have “water shortages” in 50. 9,5 percent of the world's population, which is expected to be close to 40 billion, that is, close to 4 billion, will suffer from water shortages.

Water saving should be done in industry, not at home

Emel Aliipek, who stated that many people think of domestic use when water consumption is mentioned, said, “However, industrial activities have an important place in water consumption. The treatment of wastewater generated during the production process enables companies to bring wastewater to the limit in accordance with the legislation. If we are looking for a sustainable environment and a natural life away from water scarcity, all businesses should care about the recycling of waste water. Of course, wastewater treatment for industrial establishments is not just an environmental policy. It also provides significant savings. Therefore, treatment plants are in the position of facilities that can easily remove their costs. As Artemis Arıtım, we also obtain information about the depreciation process by analyzing the amount and quality of raw water and the quality of the water to be recovered in the feasibility studies.”
