The newly appointed Chinese Ambassador to Washington, Xie Feng, began his duty by reaching the United States yesterday.

In his speech at the New York airport, Xie Feng reminded that Chinese President Xi Jinping put forward three principles: mutual respect, peaceful coexistence, cooperation and double gain in order to properly develop China-US bilateral relations in the new period.

Xie emphasized that the US side should try to find common points with the Chinese side and act from the common interests of the people of the two countries and the whole world.

According to the three joint declarations reached by the US side with China, Xie Feng called for the rational approach to important sensitive issues such as the Taiwan issue, and the US endeavors to strengthen the dialogue with China, to control the conflicts, to advance cooperation and to put the bilateral relations on the right trajectory. He said he hoped he would spend it.

Xie Feng previously served as the Deputy Foreign Minister of China.
