Mayor of Izmir Metropolitan Municipality Tunç Soyerexamined the construction of Karabağlar Orhan Kemal Primary School, the foundation of which was laid on January 15 and 37 percent of it has been completed. Reminding that the school, which the people of the neighborhood have longed for for years, was built by the Izmir Metropolitan Municipality, Mayor Soyer said, "We will perhaps have made the biggest investment in the history of the region." Soyer also came together with the children on the carpet field, which was renovated and put into service in Peker Mahallesi.

Stating that the construction of the 8-storey school with 200 classrooms, built on an area of 3 square meters in Abdi İpekçi District, is progressing under difficult conditions, Soyer said, “This place has been neglected. It's a difficult area. Building a school here is also very challenging in terms of construction. Because it was necessary to build a serious retaining wall. Most of the hard parts are done. We will get our children back to school. Because school is an important issue here. They had to travel great distances. Now they will get to their school. His happiness will be enough for us. We will have made perhaps the biggest investment in the history of the region.”

Abdi İpekçi District Headman Orhan Kaya stated that they were very happy with the investment and said, “This was the back row. Since Tunç President took office, we have started to come forward. We are no different from those living in Mavişehir. We said we will fix this difference. I heard that Izmir Metropolitan Municipality has built a school for the first time with its own means. I'm so proud. I grew up in this neighborhood. It did not happen to me and my children. But I hope our grandchildren will study at Orhan Kemal Primary School”. The school construction is scheduled to be completed in February 2024.
Children's dreams come true
President Tunç Soyer, also examined the carpet pitch built in Peker Park in Peker District, organized by the Emergency Solution Teams. Soyer met with the children on the field, which was idle for many years and was renovated and put into service by the Metropolitan Municipality, where free sports trainings were given to the children. President Soyer said, “One of the best works of the Emergency Solution Teams was this astroturf pitch in Peker Park. The more children turn to sports, the more they stay away from bad habits.
