In the second stage of the 119-kilometer tour of Sakarya, the international road bike race that started within the scope of Sakarya Bike Fest, which is followed with enthusiasm in the city, the pedals were turned with the goal of championship. Sakarya Metropolitan Municipality organization, Sakarya Bike Fest, which is the focal point of those interested in cycling from all over the world and Turkey, continues at full speed.

At the Sunflower Cycling Valley, Europe's most comprehensive cycling facility, the races in different categories, in which hundreds of athletes participate, start one by one.

The second stage of the Tour Of Sakarya was held today in the giant organization that included MTB in the mountain bike area, Tour Of in the road bike category and BMX races in the supercross category.

119 kilometers of excitement

Starting from the starting point in the valley, world star athletes pedaled to get the highest score on the track, which continues for exactly 119 kilometers.

The second stage, in which 13 teams from 14 countries and 87 athletes competed fiercely, was held on the Camili-Korucuk-Alandüzü-Beşevler-Akmeşe route.

Today's winners

Iranian athlete Saeid Safarzadeh from Arvich Bike Center team finished first with a time of 77 in the challenging stage that 2.57.47 athletes could complete. Xianling Lyu, a Chinese athlete from the China National team, was second with a time of 2.57.50, while Estonian athlete Martin Laas from the Astana team finished the race in third place with a time of 2.57.51.

As a result of the 2nd Stage races, the general classification leadership did not change hands. Metropolitan Bereznyak, who was the owner of the orange jersey with his time leadership in the first stage, did not lose the general classification leadership and the orange jersey with a time of 2.57.50 in the second stage. The third stage of the races (Sunflower Valley-Kaynarca) will start again on Friday, 19 May from Sunflower Cycling Valley.

Awards given

Metropolitan Mayor Ekrem Yüce, the officials of the International Cycling Union (UCI) and sportsmen presented their medals to the athletes who took advantage of the 3rd and 4th stages of the race, which will continue on different routes with their rank.

Speaking at the ceremony, President Yüce said, “Our Sakarya is witnessing yet another bicycle festival. We had another pride in our contacts with UCI and the bicycle investments we made in our city. Sakarya is now the first city that comes to mind when it comes to cycling. Our mountain, road and supercross races have started and the excitement will continue for about 1 month. We expect all our sports fans to join us by checking the calendar. Join this excitement, we are hosting the world.”
