Sirius Yapı A.Ş Chairman of the Board Barış Öncü stated that the 6 February earthquake should be a turning point for our country and said that the priority in the next process is to build solid buildings.

Pointing out that great lessons should be learned from the 6 February earthquake as a country, Öncü said that they made important decisions as a company since İzmir is a first-degree earthquake zone and said, "How can we make our buildings stronger?" He said they raised the question.

Stating that they are continuing the construction of the Sirius Florida project in Çiğli Yakakent, Barış Öncü said, “Currently, the government and local governments are making plans and revisions regarding the building inspection system. Although there was no change in the regulations, we thought about how we could make our buildings stronger by taking new measures. To date, we have made thousands of families homeowners. "Although we had successful exams on earthquakes and the license was approved, we decided to withdraw our project and make a new plan," he said.

WE HAVE ENTERED A NEW PROCESS IN CONSTRUCTION

Stating that they started a new self-evaluation process as a company, Barış Öncü gave the following information: “We came together with our civil engineers, architects, mechanical and electrical engineers, geology and geophysics engineers. Our ground survey has been reworked. The bearing force of the ground was measured as 42 tons per square meter. Sirius Florida is located on solid rock ground. There is no need for any ground improvement work. Despite this, we have made a new planning by accepting our current static construction values as 20 percent worse. While the concrete should be at least C25, we made the concrete C40. Although the coefficient of importance is taken as 1 in the zoning regulation; we took the coefficient as 1,2. We are building stronger and more load-bearing buildings. Because we want to build buildings where people will not die, leaving aside the cost. We want to offer solid houses to those who want to buy apartments from our project. Our goal after this time is to build houses where people can live without even having a nosebleed. For this, we entered a new process in our main business, construction. If necessary, we will not give the built-in, air conditioner. All kinds of items are taken into the house afterwards. But once a human life is gone, it cannot be returned.”

WE ESTABLISHED OUR OWN INTERNAL AUDIT AND CONTROL SYSTEM

In addition to business life; Emphasizing that he also worked in non-governmental organizations and that an awareness should be raised in the building sector from now on, Öncü gave the following information: “I am working to bring the problems of the sector to higher positions in NGOs. We want to lead the industry and do better not only with regulations but also with our own initiative. For this, we took action as a company. No one has the right to play with human life. The current regulation is sufficient to build solid dwellings; But control is also very important. As Sirius Yapı, we have established our own internal audit and control system. In our company, the project manager works full time under him as a structural engineer for a rough construction, an architect for a fine construction, a mechanical engineer for a mechanic, an electrical engineer for an electrical chief, and a class A occupational safety specialist. All these teams will follow every brick laid and every step taken. Our standards will rise even more as we make the building inspection standards in accordance with the zoning law and regulation. We will continue to make projects of better quality and respect for human life.”
