13 kilograms of cannabis was seized in the operation carried out by the Customs Enforcement teams of the Ministry of Commerce on a truck that came to the Kapıkule Customs Gate to enter Turkey.

According to the statement made by the Ministry, Customs Enforcement teams checked a truck that came to the Kapıkule Customs Area to enter Turkey through new generation technological systems used within the scope of anti-smuggling activities.

During the inspection, it was determined that there were suspicious transparent colored packages under the vehicle. Thereupon, the suspicious vehicle was sent to x-ray scanning by the teams. Instead of entering the x-ray line of the vehicle in question, it attracted the attention of the teams that it headed towards the place where the vehicles subject to veterinary control and parked in this area.

Realizing that there was a person under the trailer of the vehicle, the teams intervened directly in the vehicle. It was seen that the driver of the vehicle and the person accompanying him, who were monitored physically and with closed-circuit camera systems, were trying to get out of the customs area.

Thereupon, the vehicle began to be searched in detail by the teams. As a result of the controls, 13 kilograms of cannabis were seized in the previously determined area of ​​​​the vehicle.

Two suspects were taken into custody, while the seized drugs were confiscated. The investigation into the incident continues before the Edirne Chief Public Prosecutor's Office.
